nice table there morkhans,
but why do we need the complexity... why cant we just have the same as telkom even with VGS?
i dont want 4 diff types of connections. i want 1. 1 good fastish connection with bandwidth. And if i run outa my cap i want to be able to upgrade with well priced gb!
1gb is 1gb of data... if its sent via 1mb line or smoke signal its the same size...why the price difference?
The VGS solution very much favours the low end users. If they had to go the base cost for the service and then slap data at whatever amount per gig on top if it we'd be back to them costing either the same or more than Telkom. It would be nice if they could cater for both the low end and high end users (say 30GB for R1000 at 1024k? - still expensive, but a good deal given what is out there).
I am in two minds about the speed. Slicing it up allows you to budget your growth requirements and give everyone a fair service, but on the other hand because there is a cap limiting the speed is actually pointless. You will however sit with a scenario where if one person kicks off a download he/she could hog the whole line causing a slow down for other users. Possibly they could rate limit downloads and allow the normal web surfing to burst so you get a snappy page response and still maintain a good service.
