Isgs Omg

hey guys,

I actually ended up terminating my contract at Knightsbridge early and moving to The Island Club - which is allowed Telkom lines.

Back when I made the OP I tried everything:
WiMax - Telkom didn't really seem interested in helping me out
Iburst and 3G could not meet my needs
I spoke to the rental company.
I sent a letter to the governing body of Knightsbridge - a lawyer friend confirmed what they claimed to be true - that the property is still owned by the developer (even if u bought a unit) and that we are tied to the contract the developer made with ISGS.

The issue from Telkom's POV is that they are contractually not allowed to run any lines into Knightsbridge (and some other surrounding developments) - they sold the rights to ISGS for some retarded reason.

Eventually I made some progress by speaking to a guy named Dave at the development company (Rabie). He assured me that if ISGS were not meeting the required levels of service the contract could be terminated. Someone would need to get together a bunch of complaints from residents.

One thing that I haven't seen in this whole thread is someone actually complaining about the speed that they give....

After checking ISGS's website for their prices and then comparing it to Telkom, I found that the only package that they have that is cheaper is.... wait for it.... their 3Gb 384Kbps  And its not much cheaper either, just by a few Rand.

I mean come on!!! So you dont have to pay line rental, but they just make it up with charging you an arm and a leg for usage.

IMO, and I hate saying this, :sick:Telkom ADSL:sick: line with some other ISP is the best option by far. It gives you the freedom that all our forefathers fought so hard for :D

Makes me wonder how many people actually USE them... :D At the prices they charge... You must be a very uninformed user to not realise you're being ripped off left, right, and center

its crazy what they seems to try these days.... and those rates are rediculous... targeting foreigners most likely.

you guys see the post that antIS made on ISLABS?

sigh... sounds more like govt with his "dont look at the problems...look @ new ideas"

Sigh... no REAL answer from them still... suppose that we expect nothing to happen :(

how lame

I have my AGM (Annual General Meeting) tomorrow night - And i move in end of next week.

Apparently plenty of residents have put Telecoms on the Agenda - so it should be quite an interesting evening.

I'll get back to ya all with some feedback.
