Isgs Omg

Defcon would you mind posting a 'tracert' to the following hosts:

  • zero.mweb.co.za
  • kalahari.mweb.co.za
  • clarity.jolt.co.uk
  • ns1.is.co.za

Infact anyone currently on ISGS could help me with this, just censor the first 2 IP's listed.

Thanks :)

hi guys i think you all got this a bit wrong.

firstly they have a direct line to IS (didata) so the towers that they have up are there own that they put up to connect all the developments around century city.

as for you guys wanting telkom, heres the thing telkom dont want to give services to certain of the developments in cape town and joburg.

isgs is one of the cheaper isp's around, i mean if you think real hard. iburst offer a 500 mg package for R199 and isgs offer a 1gb package at round the same speed and sometimes better for R222 some change which i think is a better deal.

and even tho you sometimes have to wait to get your service from them 9 times out of 10 they are 70% faster at getting it to you then anyone else. which isnt to say that great but its the best iv seen for a long time.

im not defending them like a bodyguard, coz i also get mad when my service is down but they also have one of the faster respond times around in any profession in South Africa. and one big thing to remember is they are still a bit young in the isp world if you think of who and what has been around for the past 10 years.

one thing i must say about them is if you work with them when you have a problem or when you want something they work better with you.

and you say that when you want connection and you can only go with them,,,,, just think about it what has telkom been doing for the last god knows how many years and you what to complain about them. i say hell yes finally someone to take them on and give us more options in the first place. and they try to help you to do way more things that you want that telkom and other isp's will say yes or no they will try and make a plan.

so i say be a little lighter on those guys they doin good and i think slow but sure getting better.

There's nothing wrong with them competing with Telkom but we don't want Telkom replaced with another monopoly.

congratulations on your first post darryl! welcome to the clan!

I'll respond to this a little later, dont have a moment right now.

I disagree with darryl. ISGS charge more than MTN/Vodacom for a simple connection.

Why on earth would I go with something like that when I might as well go mobile then. I should have the choice of who I want as an ISP, forcing an ISP on a complex should not be legal, and if I eventually buy in one of these complexes, I will have it undone, legally.

I don't think it can be legal. I still wonder why the developers agree to this? What's the benefit for them?

MTN & Voda offer 2GB bundles @ R389 which works out far cheaper than some of ISGS's packages considering thats up to 1.8 mbps.

@ 384kbps. Actually people often get pretty close. The point is don't tell people to "go back to school" and act like a troll if you don't know what you're talking about.

A troll sounds about right if you know your 3g so well why do you have such poor speeds try my speed test on 3g then on iburst and see true speed
