Hi,

For now, there is a complaint lodged at the ISPA against Internet Solutions. Complain No is COC.#130, and basically Internet Solutions is breaking section C of the ISPA Code of Conduct 'Consumer protection and provisioning of Information to customers'

I am also busy dealing with ICASA in Cape Town and bringing the matter to their attenion, as a VANS license is DEFINATELY not sufficient to operate the services which they are doing.

I suggest anyone being forced to use ISGS to contact the ISPA ([email protected]) and either file your own complain, or file an additional complaint tied to the same ref number. The ISPA is currently investigating, I haven't had any feedback yet (but it's only been a few days).

+1! we will add to yours... i think thats best :)

well i added my complaint to yours and this was the reply:

Dear XXX and XXX,

We have been informed by Internet Solution that ISGS is a separate legal entity and not a division of Internet Solutions as indicated in your complaint. Unfortunately ISPA can only accept complaints against ISPA members, and Internet Solutions Gated Services (ISGS) is not a member of ISPA.

I must therefore close the complaint. You could also try contacting ICASA:

any1 else wanna add a WTF?!

sigh

After reading this: http://www.isgs.co.za/content.asp?TopLinkID=2&PageID=45

There can be no doubt as to who is provisioning the Internet Service... I fail to see why this would NOT be within the Internet Service Providers Association's jurisdiction.

IS own's a 51% controlling stake in ISGS they are also a LARGE member of the ISPA surely the ISPA manifesto, code of conduct, ethics, and rules / laws.... applies to all IS ventures not just the parent entity? this to me sounds like the ISPA is trying to flush this little complaint.

I mean one call to IS and they immediately believe what IS tells them, have we learnt nothing from all these years under Telkom?

Savage, you know, of course, this is your own stupid fault for moving on Friday 13th. Talk about inviting the worst.

ICASA would be the logical next step, even if you don't get anywhere with them you can at least show you've followed procedure and reported it to them. What about somewhere like the Competition Commission? ISGS is clearly creating an artificial monopoly for itself and not allowing any competition.

I've got the details of the person at ICASA in the Cape on who's juristiction this falls. The silly tosser (tm) just never called me back again to discuss this, and it's going completely whackity mad at work. Basically, I haven't had the time to properly discuss this with ICASA yet.

ICASA definately will push this, but it will take a very long time.

For now, (as I have some contacts at Telkom), my line is being installed next week Friday. A whole issue with ISGS, and 3 weeks from applying to installation, isn't bad at all. At least I'll have my line :)

Still, I'm not leaving this though

sooo.. .they allowing a line to be put in?

who did u speak to, to do this?

Shotto!

question savage...

how many people did u need to get to sign on to get telkom to come draw a line?

Put a order in, make sure you have a reference number

Bitch and moan at Alan (basically) and give him your reference number. He then gets ISGS to pull a cable, and liase with Telkom to use that cable for service
