Isgs Omg

LOL, one post wonders,

i think I should create an alternate personality for myself, here at the forums, It's always nice to get a high five! It would be so cool, post a load of unfounded claims, then when the going gets tough, just login as your alternate personality and *High five!*

*High Five* everybody!

PS. there is now why in hell you are going to convince the majority of people on this forum that the prices from isgs are competitive, you should be comparing that with fixed line access and adsl is way cheaper, and you have choice. I must add that they obviously have a niche market and as such I will not bash them, if it weren't for them some poor souls would probably not have net access at all....

If you really want to be convincing create a few now with some random posts so it doesn't look so obvious a few months down the line. :D

My problem isn't with the services they offer, its that they try and stop you from using other options like Telkom. As much as we all hate Telkom we don't want them replaced with another monopoly.

It is beyond me how you are not able to do maths . 1.80 a mb from mtn/ vc and you say cheeper GO BACK TO SCHOOL

It is beyond me how you can't do simple math... since you're quoting out-of-bundle rates... why don't you quote ISGS out-of-bundle rates?

Damn ISGS representive... go fly a kite.

P.S. You can't spell. CHEAPER is one of the easier words in the dictionary. How about you go get an education? Can't believe an IGS representive joins the board and can't spell CHEAPER.

Well considering their prices it explains a lot. :D

Quickly trying to find their out-of-bundle rates... I know I have them somewhere.

Nothing says **** more than an insult on a new members second post.

Can't find it... but I know its not something like 20c/MB... Anyone know what Telkom's rate is out of bundle?

P.S. MTN is R1.2/MB not R1.8/MB.

I've been told iBurst is a very good alternative in Century City - but I've heard horror stories of their customer service, but if this ISGS representitive is anything to go by, it can't be that bad.

Yeah I totally agree, I just meant that they, obviously have a place in the market, but I will definitely not use them... I hate it when monopolies exploit and extorts clients, give us choice if you have a good product people will make use of you! They obviously have some agreements with the developers of the complexes, and thus the want sole mandate on comms within the complex.

You can apply for iburst through Vodacom, might be a good way to bypass iburst's customer service/billing department.

Yeah it seems like it.

Darryl it astounds me how quickly you managed troll this topic so far off course.
Then amazingly with the skill of a warcraft blademaster, your schizo alter troll backs up this diversion tactic within 1 min of your previous post *Bravo*

Anyway for all the regulars: This is the pricing (although I'm sure it's the same everywhere) ...shocking as you can see.

Stonehurst Pricing per month.

I'n not sure if its 7c/MB on Telkom but you can buy a GB that never expires for ADSL at R70/GB which amounts to the same thing.

Was just looking for something else and saw I can get a 4MB ADSL line and 10GB cap for R890, actually seems cheap now compared to this.

yep thats right...

hence us not using them and going for a wireless connection.

meh its so lame... save us telkom!

... cant believe i just said that on myadsl

/hides in shame

lol@buddha

I think the biggest issue with ISGS is that they position their offering as an alternative to Telkom, yet price it in the same league as the mobile operators. I had something that might resemble a debate with someone from ISGS before we moved into Upper East Side, and what annoys me is statements like this:

Our offers are targeted at the typical home user and in these catagories we are very competitive, very few home users opt for 5gig and 10 gig accounts. Should the person require a special package we can always discuss with him. We will continue to review rates as the market changes and remain competitive.

Ummm, yes competetive with who again?

www.iburst.co.za? Nope
www.amobia.co.za? Nope

ahhh, wait

We compare our wireless bandwidth against the Mobile operators and find our pricing very competitive, once again it is not ADSL. Other operators in the market do not give clients an option at all.

Ok, so above 5gigs they are competitive with the mobile operators, but then again, 3g is completely mobile so if I was an "typical home user" why would I want to pay the same if not more for a wireless competing wireless solution that is fixed?

Then of course there are remarks of the more snotty kind:

If the person takes the time to investigate this option properly he would find that clients have the OPTION to be hard capped or can choose a package witha "soft cap" ie if you exceed your cap you will be charged per meg thereafter.

Gee, how kind

My final peeve is that despite claims like

we do not resell ADSL, we only retail hosting bandwidth which is far superior to ADSL.

IS do provide uncapped ADSL packages, and I really don't see why ISGS can't offer this to heavier users in each complex. I mean if they can draw Telkom PRI's into the complex, why can they not also bring some copper cables and provide DSL services as well? Oh wait, now I remember... In a captive market it's much easier to just rip the customer off, how silly of me

+1 Defcon1 well said.

Why would u compare urself with mobile operator rates when you are in the fixed line business? Sigh... its just so lame.

And thats the major peeve... they are like "oh snap...captive market...well lets rape them on the connection fees/packages...and then offer them an upgrade option where we will charge them R500/gig."

they better be using that mad /gig charge for a beer fund, else its just not cricket!

Well if they are pulling Telkom PRI's into my estate then i want a piece of that action.
We do have copper pulled to every stand on the estate... about 480 of them, and as for the wireless backhaul to CPT, there is no chance of any line of sight as we are in Tokai / Silvermine - very different from Century City, Woodstock / Observatory - where they could peak round the mountain with a decent hi-site.

To be honest.. for me the single most important factor is latency, if it's ****ty - heads will roll!

On a more positive note the line of site from the house to Telkoms WiMax tower in steenberg is something to behold - We are slightly elevated on the side of the mountain with no obstructions what-so-ever, the tower is about 2km's away.

So I will most definatedly be having a signal test done ASAP.

This guys are thieves . plain and simple.

..even their little rep a few pages back buggered off... no suprise there.

The one that tried to insult me with his higher math intellect.... and apparently low english spelling skills. . . not my fault I didn't get matric :(

Syndyre you remember darryl dont you - The split personality, shizophrenic mutiple account wielding forum troll, from about 2 pages back... ?
