After two weeks of the initial sign up with Afrihost, I can safely say that they fail miserably in service, quality and price (being the most expensive and all). So, I need suggestions - which ISP is the best to go for because I was only hearing great things about Afrihost from friends who have/had Afrihost. Looking for 2Mbps uncapped account.

Heard Cybersmart are crap; Axxess I think is part of Afrihost (so screw them); OpenWeb seems really great; MWeb heard it was really really crap; and Telkom is... well... Telkom. So, not much choice here :(

Cybersmart fly for me but I seem to be the exception (10mb uncapped).

Incredible connection have entered the ISP market and are offering a 2mb uncapped account for R99 per month. Runs on the IS backbone and early reports are promising. I would jump on that if I were you...

Seems OK but not sure if a new comer is trustworthy!

Openweb is great, so long as you dont have their standard upcapped. They throttle that thing to s### during the day. At night you get full speed though. IC is great so far. Its not a contract so if you dont like it you can always move.

no, no, no, we need some more heavy lifters on IS. They work on average downloads remember, so we need some people to pull up those averages

As opposed to MWEB, the better the speed, the lower the contention the FASTER you get throttled.....:D

I have an Openweb Standard account and it flies all the time for everything except torrents during the day. Daytime I find range from 30 - 50% line speed for torrents. After 5 it starts picking up nicely!

I have a 10mbps line and just left Afrihost and I am looking for a new ISP.

Not looking at paying more than say, R600 for an account.

I download about 200 - 250 gigs a month and online gaming and streaming is VERY important to me.

Any recommendations?

Also looking for a new ISP. Also in R600 area (adsl package + line included) but for a 4mb uncapped package.

Looks like we all looking for a new ISP ... ... I was going to get mweb until I heard how bad they have gotten and then reading the openweb threads I realize I don't want to risk it (most seem fine but the guys with problems have mega problems)

I am currently looking at cybersmart but not their uncapped accounts ... looking at the 100GB 20mbps line for R1000 ... ... Seems like the best option for me (full line speeds on all applications and a 20mb line is to good to say no to)

If your line can support 20mbps. Unfortunately mine only goes up to 10mbps :(

I do not want a capped account though as I like the freedom of being able to download as I see fit... I don't mind the odd bit of shaping of downloads as long as my real time services are unaffected and I get full speed after hours.

My line only supports 10mbps if I check on telkom's website but at least it leaves room for improvement ... ... I can get the 10mbps (100GB/pm) for just under R800 but the small difference in price makes me want to just get the 20mbps ...

I am torn though between uncapped with some shaping and the supposed unshaped capped accounts ...

Hey guys. Test accounts available from RazoWeb if you guys want to give us a try.

Hi Razoweb, are you reselling Axxess accounts?

I am in need of an uncapped account to stream Netflix & Hulu+.
Axxess shapes this service.

R699 for 100 GB capped..... ouch!

So if I take the Uncapped for R299 and do 100 GB then that's ok... weird pricing ?

Test account would be awesome! Looking to change from Telkom...
