ISP to ISP ADSL Line Transfer

I had a line transfer made from WebAfrica to Afrihost on the 31st August.
As ISP's cannot inter transfer, the line gets tranfered back to Telkom and then to the next ISP.

So Webafrica -> Telkom -> Afrihost.

I just receive my Monthly invoice and Telkom charged me a Service fee, R705.20 for this.:confused:

There was no line cancelation, no technician involved, just a transfer of line, rental and liability from 1 ISP to another ISP.:wtf:

I was not inforemed by either ISP's that there will be a cost involved payable to telkom for this process.:(

I phoned Telkom 2x today to despute this and they kept saying that this is the cost involved.

Day light robbery I'll say!!!!:mad:
 
This is why 30day cancellation periods are required... To avoid billing issues :D

I don't understand your reply, I did not cancel anything, I gave 30 days notice for the transfer to WebAfrica.
 
This is why always leave your line with telkom. Makes things much easier.

Why would I pay R3900 per year extra to Telkom If I can save that?

And they charged me in error, there is no cost to transfer a line from telkom to an ISP or from an ISP to telkom, I checked there tarrif list and no where is such a cost shown.

yes i payed R500 for moving the line a while back , but i saved much more then that so its ok.

and with webafrica i can port reset without phoning telkom and change my speeds in the control panel , i can basically do what telkom does whenever i want :P
 
Really sorry to read about this, as far as I am aware there is no charge for the ISP transfer. Telkom should be able to give you a further breakdown of the service charges, but this is the first I have ever heard of this.

Please DM me your details, I'd like to query with Telkom Wholesale to find out why they charged you.
 
I want to thank Afriman and Afrihost, they took this issue upon themselves and I just received my Telkom Monthly statement via email and the full amount of R705.20 has been Credited.
