I'm currently a Telkom DSL customer and as I did just run out of my 4GB uncapped allowance I'm looking for a new ISP for my home-office.

I need a fast DSL line without any caching / transparent proxy enabled, as some needed sites don't work with Telkom. I don't find any information if any of the other ISPs offer a 'real' internet access without using any caching / transparent proxies.

Please let me know...

P.S. Sites that simply don't work with me when using Telkoms forced proxy include http://ip-address.domaintools.com/ - does it work for you?
P.P.S. anyony knows why my Telkom accont still works even though I'm way above the 4 GB limit that came with it? Combined Total 4.8103 GB says https://secure.telkomsa.net/titracker/

All consumer Internet access products in South Africa are behind transparent proxies.

You can contact IS about their uncapped business services. These give you five fixed IPs and they are willing to set those IPs to bypass their caches if you request it.

damn... crazy...

Actually - I just remember that I used to use the unrestricted / internetvpn APN from vodacom when I was on HSDPA and I think I had no transparent proxy with them...

So there's not much use in switching to Webafrica or other ISPs where I can switch/use the verizon network? They were kind of my hope in that regard. As I understand it SAIX an Verizon are both pretty good for international connections, while IS relies only on a satellite connection for international traffic?

I'm now using webafrica with the Verizon Backbone in use and it's - as you said it - also using a transparent proxy. But at least http://ip-address.domaintools.com/ and the other sites that I had problems with do now load properly...

If you weren't in the fairest Cape ... I would suggest moving to the Fourways JHB exchange area ... my connection (using SAIX based account) has never been transparently proxied.

Guess someone forgot to configure WCCP on the upstream ESR?
