ISPA JINX and CINX traffic growth

am i missing something?

total transferred in last 24hrs = 195gb? avg speed = 54.2mbs?

100 x users each doing a paltry 50k/sec?
1000 users doing 5k/sec?

doesnt seem like much?

Keep in mind, only a bit little data gets exchanged. Everyone on Tenet does not download stuff from IS, or vice versa. Once more ISPs peer and more options become available it will go better.

If Cybersmart, Webafrica, Afrihost, IS, MTN, iBurst, etc can all band together and offer very low rates on their version of local only then people will start jumping ship, thus hurting Telkom, thus forcing them to peer at CINX and JINX. Then it is Joe Public that win.

I know what a news server is, I have just never been able to connect to any of them. news.is is a pita, and news.saix just times out. I've since given up . . .
 
Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but I saw today that the overall stats are no longer password protected: http://stats.cinx.net.za/showtotal.php

Goes to show, something happed at CINX shortly after the passwords were put in place, check the 1 year graph, about 1 week into March someone joined CINX and doubled the traffic there!
 
These graphs are very interesting. In theory they should just keep on growing and growing as more ISPs join. We are struggling to join because we are out in Stellenbosch and it's near impossible to get roof access to IS's building. We also got some prices from Neotel with regards to peering using fibre but those costs are unfortunately also prohibitive. We're continuing to pursue the wireless route.
 
I'm sure it's hidden because ISPs don't want to give away competitive information. Another reason why I would want to hide it, especially from MyBroadband forum users, is because MyBB users will go there and throw abuse at the ISP. This forum is littered with angry people wanting to abuse ISPs. Unfortunately a forum such as this doesn't seperate professional and amateurs, and a lot of people who post do so when they are angry.
