ISPs for Vodacom fibre

Hi - I have Vodacom fibre installed in my complex (Sibiti Estate in Fourways, Johannesburg). As I was an early adopter, I have Vodacom as my ISP, too. I'd like to see what other ISPs I could use on this network, but all the searches on the ISP websites (including fibretiger.co.za) tell me fibre is not available in my area.

Am I missing something?

James- Vodacom operates a closed-access network. You cannot use any other ISP apart from Vodacom.

Thanks Clayman. This is very annoying - they told me they would run as closed access for around 6 months, after which they would open up to other ISPs. That was well over a year ago...

Perhaps it is in their medium term strategy to become open access but I haven't seen any official word from Vodacom regarding this.
They are going wild lately acquiring other smaller fibre providers.

I have contacted someone at management and they said they plan to become open access by end of Q1 2018. However I don't trust them.

This is so frustrating. Literally the whole of my Area in Summerstrand PE has been/is being dug up for Vodacom Fibre, really really dont understand how they got the deal to do it. Im guessing openserve now cant also put down their on infrastructure on top of Vodacom's?

If OS wants to, they can. Also, what is wrong with Vodacom? Yes, they are a bit more expensive than the others, but I have been with them for 2 months now and been down only once for mayb 20secs. Can download what I want and depending on download source, I always get full speeds. I just replaced their router with my own.

Vodacom profess to be open network but have no partners. Where I live in Brackendowns my side of the street is Vodacom network, across the road SAD Village network. My cost R900 per month for Vodacom 10/10 across the road R604 for Vodacom 10/10. While they have their own network they can charge 50% more, why would they want to share when they can rip of their customers with no recourse.

I had a similar experience. On vodacoms website my area was supported with fibre but when I tried to get a package through a partner listen on their website (frogfoot) that partner said that they didn't even have plans to expand to my neighbourhood. So its only Vodacom themselves that they support

A bit? Way more. In some cases they're even more expensive than OpenServe.

Btw the VoIP packages, stay with the lowest package if you need them, out of bundle is cheaper than the middle tier...
(250 min, R135pm, 53c/min; 500 min, R235, 47c/min; meanwhile the local rates page is 20c-31c)

And VoIP wise, rather pick e.g. freshphone or swtichtel.

Vodacom changed to open access - April 2019.
Can you use Home-Connect, Accelerit, Cool Ideas + VodaCom - not sure who else.
