iSquashed P2P

I tried Tor aswell with emule, but it didnt even wanna connect to the server, im running out of ideas now. and as far as i know there are no http sites to get "ok" things from.

i wonder what they mean by problems
Not too sure, I know of one forumite complaining of degradation. I don't have customers in PTA so it's hard to say what the situation is exactly

Tor works for me, but like only 1 torrent at a time and it's much slower than NukeCap's PayVPN.

I am trying to get hold of Clipse to see what we can do.
The trouble is that, to get around this ****, you need to VPN into a server offshore and the prices for hosting a dedicated box with root access and sufficient bandwidth is steep. I cannot do it on my own and several people have been burned by this because people don't wanna pay

Just "logged a call" with iburst, they rekon there aint no problems so now they are gonna investigate and get back to me in the next 24 - 48 hours if im lucky, but all i know is this is p&&&ing me off.

Good luck, many others have logged calls to no avail. I've tried asking RPM to solicit a response out of iBurst, no response.

we should all flood them with "logged calls" and soon they gonna be so gatvol they gonna have to do something. i mean what on earth must i do with all my cap, deff not gonna download 3gigs of emails or work on servers.

This is exactly what they are counting on. So you don't use your cap, although you are in credit, it means their pipe is not being used as much and they can cram in all the new sign-ups, or avoid having to pay Telkom for more bandwidth for as long as possible. iburst fancies itself as a cellular service provider so it's no surprise they're using the same tactics.

More customers without paying Telskam more = more fat profits into their pockets. Although it's for now a Gauteng thing, I am sure they will implement same countrywide.

P2p Shaping

Censorship from an isp of what I may or may not download should be applied in extreme circumstances only. Surely your role as an isp should be to sell me bandwidth at a profit and get me to use as much of it as possible? Many evils have occurred as a result of censorship, and the next evil will probably be to shape voip traffic in favor of Icall. The value of my package has now been reduced, and I would now like to downgrade my package at no extra cost, or if possible, cancel my contract with Iburst. Guys, there is no way that I will renew my contract with an isp that practices censorship of this kind.

With Privoxy and Tor, coupled to Azureus, my downloads are going at the same speed as a corrupt African politician in leaving office voluntarily.
I am getting the whoppong speed of 263 bytes/second download !

Well done iBurst - all this means that I will be changing ISP's sooner than I had thought

it's the same for me. i've now got adsl installed along with two weeks left of iburst. running them side by side .this month in Cape Town iburst has become completely unusable for anything. slow pings, "no" torrents anymore, web pages timing out. traffic has just about stopped .
i used to d/l 30-40 gigs off iburst a month, but it looks like door has closed and will probably be locked.

by comparison my downgrade to 384kbps adsl is lightning fast and feels more reponsive than my 1mb iburst line ever did?

there seems to be no logic in the current broadband market!!!

Their actual policy isn't to kill P2P, someone has to get them to acknowledge the fault because previously they just seemed to think that people are complaining about shaping (to 64kb), not the death of P2P.

Most people don't realise that browsing speed is affected by latency far more than speed one you are into broadband speeds. Your iBurst might even run at 1mbps but with 500ms international pings it will still browse slower than 384kbps ADSL.

What do you mean by no torrents? I ran a torrent just the other night and it was fine, the P2P death is only in JHB atm..

P2p Working In Pretoria

P2P is working in Pretoria again. Let's hope Iburst listens to feedback given by subscribers.

You may not believe this but I have actually been downloading Linux distros. The latest Feisty beta, the newly released Debain Etch and updating them and the already installed Fedora Core.

Because of the overhead of torrents I don't use them given the small bandwidth we have in SA.

Ah but jongi, the issue IS WITH TORRENTS so saying your downloads went fast when they're not torrents is kinda completely out of the threads pointywointy ya see?

Anyway.....annoying crap about how they won't post my comments in the support blog....I left FIVE and they blocked all but two claiming that they let them all through. :/

the issue is with torrents indeed. I am not going to repeat myself anyhow. Some good posts here, unfortunately no-one wants to listen to what I have to say on this matter.

Ah I see what happened here.

Previous page, JTech makes comment that this could be intentional by iBurst to stabilize network, make more bandwidth available etc. I reply it makes sense now that I have been getting full download speeds. However I do not quote JTech's post or make mention of the fact that I am referring to non-torrent downloading. LaLaLand asks where and what I am downloading. I reply.

Apologies for not making my initial post clear.
