I took my 13" MBP Thule Case into Canal Walk iStore, as it has a breaking zip.

As I have purchased plenty there, (x 2 MBP's, iPad, phone, TC, iMac and more) I expected no issues...my invoice ought to show on their system....NO,sir you need to find your proof of purchase.

Find PoP and take it and Thule case in...No we only cover in the 1st year of warranty...you need to contact Thule directly, I asked for and received the tel. no.

I contact Thule....superb service, I'll drop it off, they'll assess and let me know.

This is the 2nd time issues with iStore C-Walk, exactly the same problem with the recalled Apple iPhone chargers, i was given the same run around..."No sir you did not purchase your phone from us"..."It does not show on our system"....found my PoPurchase and still messed around had to raise my voice to get sorted.

Sadly istore C-W has lost me to Digicape! the service is great, stock better too...try getting Thunderbolt/ Thunderbolt cables from C-Walk.

Seems like a HelloPeter type of complaint. It's not as if iStore is Apple.

I have never been to an iStore where i have had great service to be honest. Only used to buy from them because of the Discovery Card cash back in the past.

That's odd because during my last visit I couldn't buy squat without giving them a name and address. In fact they said no sale without it.

I think that's the point. iStore require your contact details at purchase but then say that there's no record of sale when you bring back an item until you return with proof of purchase.

They say they changed their system, and could not find the items on their system: my iPhone purchase for the charger recall, nor the Thule case sale...I found and produced both invoices.
Digicape was prepared to swop out the Apple iPhone charger without my purchasing it from them!...I told them i bought it the phone from istore C-Walk..."no problem, bring it in we will exchange it, it is a recall!"
In fairness the staff were not rude, but the way the store is run is no longer great....it was!
The Apple phone charger was the shocker/ eye opener for me, the Thule case confirmed their way of operating.

Digicape sold an iPhone 6 and a Thunderbolt cable as a result!
Thule has great customer service: they called me back after my initial call to them after my no joy at iStore, I dropped it off ,it will be looked at, apparently a batch were made with non spec zips, looks as if this was one.

iStore is an Apple Premium Reseller.
https://www.apple.com/za/buy/apr/

They have a special badge endorsing them as the local people who "live and breathe everything Apple".
iStore have been chose by Apple Inc. Not everyone can slap such a badge on their storefront, or get listing on apple.com website.

So yeah, if iStore messes up, it's Apple Inc's fault for allowing them to continue to be the premium reseller and official supplier of Apple products.

Premium Reseller. Not the same as being Apple. The African continent is too insignificant for Apple to bother with.

I won't let my Apple experience be hampered by such.

iStore is simply the retail front for Core, the official importer.

How Digicape manage to survive when their reseller is also their competition can only be accredited to their service levels, which to be honest is quite lacking on an enterprise or even small business level.

I don't know how your mind works but that's still Apple's fault. They give their blessing to Core/iStore/ZaStore and slap that prestigious badge and endorsement on them and those guys seem to let some forumites down. Thank Apple.

An update: Thule contacted me and have replaced the case. I can only speak well of my dealings with Thule here in Cape Town...perhaps Apple ought to send Core staff to Thule for training? :)

Re SC, yes agree, Apple as far as I know, have a say over (vet and will veto) the shops appearance, then more importantly the dealings therein.

My mind works like a sensible adult. Tired of adults complaining about the smallest of issues as if it's life threatening. Apple are only accountable for defects in materials and workmanship. It's not as if Apple made the Thule bag. Just saying.
