Hi everyone.

Just got the good news this morning that my wife's clothing label has been registered and all seems to be going perfectly :p

Now I was talking to her about starting an IT line of clothing, semi formal work clothes. Dono if that is what you IT guys wear when working :o Anyway, the reason for this thread is to understand the clothing needs for the IT guys on here.

Do you guys wear chinos with golf or button shirts or Jeans and T-Shirts. Pls your assistance is appreciated

Shorts and Optional Slops and Optional T-Shirt / Golf Shirt.
Sometimes I wear sandals when I go to the beach for lunch if I'm going to be rock climbing.

3/4 Shorts or Rugby shorts? :D

lol Rugby shorts to work? Thats quite dodge, hahahaha!
We have a company uniform but if I never had one I'd be interested actually.
I tend to lean towards casually-formal, chinos, cargoes or just plain old pants with a shirt or a golfer.

I usually wear a neat long sleave buttoned shirt with chinos or a neat pair of jeans.

I'm a programmer though so my needs are different from IT guus who get grubby chasing cables and crawling under desks to get to PC's.

Corporate IT ftl... I used to come into work in jeans and a collared shirt, now i'm wearing a suit every day

You targeting the IT crowd?:p
Lol they need it, nice gap in the market...
But will they bite? Hmmmm.

Start a poll on their fashion sense.

There is a Semi-formal and cassual section. Cassual I think I know, but the Semi-Formal bit I'm not too sure :o

One reason I like my job :)

Our work-wear is mostly casual. Quite a few people favour jeans, but if they aren't attending meetings, very few actually dress up.

Shorts aren't allowed during the week (a bit too casual), though some guys wear them on weekends or public holidays.

We aren't client-facing, so dressing up is a bit pointless, but we still have to look respectable for the odd client that does march through our dungeons.

A few guys come in with plain T-shirts, and if they have to attend a meeting, just throw on a good-looking shirt and head out.

hahaha. I'm in IT and i must say some IT guys have the worst dress sense...

but chinos and golf ts, do the trick for me:D now and then nice buttoned shirt:D

I reckon that high quality jeans with the companies brand on would do well. IT folks really only want to wear jeans and if they had the company brand on they would be most acceptable.

Mon, Wed: Chinos + polyester shirt. Tie. Neat jersey or polar fleece jacket in the winter

Tues, Thursdays: Track suit (sport in the afternoon)

Fri: Black pants and white shirt. Tie.

It's quite hard to pinpoint a specific IT way of dressing actually. Over the 6 years I've been in the industry I've worked in environments ranging from completely casual (t-shirt, cargo pants, tekkies etc) to extremely professional (button shirt, smart pants, smart shoes). Where I work now it's more or less smart casual.

Often depends which field of IT you work in as well. If you build servers in a server room somewhere and don't interact with clients you're probably going to be dressed casually whereas the BI Developer would probably be more on the formal side of things.

*shrugs*
