Hi Guys

I just got a call from a friend of mine they need an IT technician, for a company of about 25-30 what is the going rate for that kind of thing and is it a full time job?

Just doing some market research hope its in the right place.

I think its around 5 - 6k.

i am thinking of doing it self and i have a job so i want to know what it'll cost per hour, i REALLY don't want to sit there the whole day with one little problem per week.

Would it be better to do it per hour or for the whole month?

The only thing that may catch me is that i don't have a certificate...

I have LOADS of experience, but no formal certificate.

But we will see how it goes, i gave them my cv and hope that they think i can do the job.

is people is jozi not getting paid more then the rest of the country?

IT Tech 2 years expr, JHB, with MCSE; R9000.

Just book your exam (A+ R1100), write, pass, certificate is almost instant.

And just do MCITP, just in case.

Certificates are important but nothing beats real world experience. Certificates on a specific discipline can help fill in the knowledge gaps pertaining to that discipline. With a few years of experience you can read through A+ and N+ manuals once and you'll pass comfortably.

You would be lucky to get anything near 10k pm if you are decently certified (A+, N+). If you do Cisco I have seen jobs for up to 16k with just a CCNP
