iTunes 7 released

So I just uninstalled it, I see now if I had clicked album art view then it looks alot more like WMP11, actually theyve pretyt much stolen the concept..
Unless they thought of it first, who knows.
Except its still not as good as WMP, it insits that you keep the artist name in a list for every song when the artist name is sitting right under the album art which obviously covers a whole CD.

I also looked at the cover flow feature which looks amazing really, but is useless for me. There is no way I can flow through all my albums like that, I have 30 gigs of music with the album art for every CD.

And if you use that as your library, then you have to go back to the old way of listing every single artist and album name etc..
Yeah - its been around longer than WMP11. ;) I've had coverflow installed since the beginning of the year.

If you dont want to see an atribute like the artist's name you just hide it.

Perhaps the Mac version is way different cos mine flows through my collection smooth like butter. It was even nice enough to go and find my missing artwork. :D

It doesnt change the way I browse my music though - not sure why it would as you can still sort by song, album, artist - whatever way you like.

hmm, well do you guys mean coverflow as in the third viewing option? The one where you have a big screen just for the cover art..

But the podcasting and radio playing is really nice, but I hardly eveer waste my bandwidth on that so I dont mind.

And I didnt know you could hide an attribute, if you mean take it away that would be great, but like I said it insiusts on having the artist, because if you take it away it cant sort by artist and doesnt display the artisi at all, yet it could just leave the artist underneath the cover art like WMP11.

YES

And if you dont know what I'm talking about, maybe you should install Winamp and listen to the default tune and clear up that confusion...
Dunno what you're talking about - wanna upload the tune? :o I'm not a big windows user.

I can't say I'm impressed with iTunes 7. It's a dog if you ask me. If you do anything CPU intensive, it completely screws up playback.
Winamp has no issues. *sigh* I used to like iTunes.

Oh, of course, thanks geek. I was busy doing the volume leveling (or whatever they call it) in Itunes for about 5 hours when I tried to play something while it was busy. SO thats why my playback screwed up.

but that would have made Itunes useless to me, I want to use it while playing games, and often some CPU intensive things, I cant have playback completley messed up some of the time.

I play itunes while playing games with no issue  I usually have a few things on the go at the same time and don't have that "lagging" issue with itunes as with wmp11.

yeah... iTunes 7 is a resource hog on windows, I think its mainly built for newer systems

I have an athlon 64 with only 512mb of ram and have not had any probs but I do hope some improvements will be made in the next update with regards to resources

strangely iTunes 7 sounds better than foobar and WMP to me for some reason

Lagging issue, what do you mean? I play games with WMP and audio plays fine.

Well I dont know if there is a issue with gaming, but apparently there is with high CPU usage?

Well the point is that anything I played on Itunes just didnt work, it was completley messed up whereas WMP 11 was fine. I thought this was prbably becasue I was busy doing some CPU intensive stuff after I had read thisgeeks post.

SO anyway, I wont be using Itunes 7. I still prefer WMP11's interface and the now playing screen with lyrics and large album art is the best way to enjoy my music imo.

It would appear that, and this is pure speculation, if you have a single core CPU, iTunes gives a bit of crap. This, plus maybe the fact that it was originally designed for MAC makes it chow a few resources.

Why I say this: Ripping a CD, converting a DVD file to iPod format while playing iTunes in the background, and surfing about 5 sites, with no glitch whatsoever in iTunes.

The sound is fine. It is when i scroll through the albums that it doesn't happen instantaneously like with WMP10. Don't get me wrong i like WMP, i just changed to itunes for the podcasts & radio and the music is nothing wrong with. I do however prefer the album interface of WMP.

As i said before, i am a huge microsoft fan. ;)

The only thing I have against iTunes is the fact that ALL your music is displayed as in a library format, I prefer to use my explorer to drag and drop my music selection into my music player.

OK I am now giving up on iTunes 7. :(

Jerky audio playback, erraticly changing pace of playback etc. iTunes 6 worked fine, WMP worked fine, Winamp worked fine.

Not performance related tho because if it wont run on the following then I really dont know.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400
2GB Ram

anyone have the same problem and maybe fixed it? I firmly believe that WMP came from Satan's ass so that is not an option. Winamp is OK but I really prefer iTunes.

You can do that with iTunes as well

Just make a playlist and drag things onto it... easy. Winamp also has a library

I have the same cpu and ram with no issues

OK after messing around I have found that both Quicktime movies and iTunes play jerky/speed up slow down when running World of Warcraft or any other game, assigned iTunes/Quicktime to a seperate core and still happens. This never happened before I installed iTunes 7...... really annoying.

EDIT - Gonna try system restore to before I installed this POS... will report back.
