I've started a web designing 'company'...any Tips?

Well there is some effort required...
I made the prices low so that i can get some people with small businesses to go for it hence my motto, affordable web design solutions
Thats just some template i got on the net. Although i had to edit the template quite a bit aqua.

You don't HAVE to have a registered CC or company to have a vat number. Remember, you can also be "Fern9do trading as SA Web Designing". But note that any contracts that "SA Web Designing" enters into are contracts that Fern9do enters into too
I think rather work out how many hours a project is going to take you then work out a price. Sometimes a 5 page website requires alot more work than a 20 page website. It all depends on the design and content.
Also, you WILL have to be able to do some graphic design and dev work work at some stage. Working on templates is fine for small sites. But when you get a picky client that wants customisation, you need to be able to roll up your sleeves and do some work.

As syzyvygyfyzyz said above, start teaching yourself some HTML/CSS/scripting as soon as possible. I've never used a template (or an opensource CMS) for a client and probably never will. The experience you get in getting down and dirty with the coding and graphic design is invaluable. The end result is also much more satisfying for both the client and you - everyone wants their site to be "special"!
+1 on learning to do it yourself (Web Design == HTML/CSS. Javascript benefits from frameworks like jQuery). Only then can you concentrate on other issues effectively - issues such as page size (bandwidth used and loading speed), browser compatibility, SEO... the list goes on. Welcome to it - the career choice that will keep you learning for the rest of your working life!

Thanks for the advice guys. I did learn HTML and a little bit of Javascript before i started designing websites. Without that i would not have been able to build that football site. So i understand what you guys mean by learning more, however my problem is time.
I just dont have enough of it! i have a demanding full time job, then i have to write 4-5 articles a day for my football site, then i have to make time for family and friends(Thank god i dont have a gf), and i have to do all this while trying to get my new company off the ground. On a good night i get about 4 hours sleep!
I see the 'problem' of designing sites using joomla and wordpress(Dont plan on doing too much of those) but i also see the problem that many entrepreneurs have with raising the funds to get a unique, hand built website designed.
Again thanks for all the advice, i plan on implementing what you guys have suggested...just need to find the time!

Just stuff that i picked up on the internet. I'm not pretending to be a web designer or graphic designer, in fact i say so on my home page.
I think a major problem is that people want to get payed before doing any real work or having the right experience. It's refreshing(and rare) to find people who are prepared to work and gain experience first before looking for that big salary. So IMO if i were you(an IT student) i would most definitely do freelance work while doing my degree. Many guys think that after they have a degree that they are god's gift to Engineering.

Not to be funny or anything, but a degree does teach you at least one important aspect - how to continually teach yourself! Also, a lot of the theory can actually be applied in a working environment and, unfortunately, many clients will take you more seriously if you have a formal higher qualification...
Very much so!! I got together with a couple of guys at varsity and we started our own little CC. I sold out this year, and got a nice pay-off. Definitely worth the experience!
A degree shows you were willing to put in some sort of an effort to get going!!

Hi Fern9do, Think very carefully before you register a CC. Yes, it may seem a good idea, but our Government is busy changing the laws so that one of these days there will no longer be such a thing. Just do your homework first...
VAT registration is a real p.i.t.a. - loads of extra admin, so unless you have a real big company going don't even think about that one!

I would remove the fact that you have no qualifications.... does it matter?
If you happy with the rates you are charging and your clients are happy using you then no need to tone yourself down if that all makes sense.
