Heard last night on radio that FIFA has apparently admitted that there may be something wrong with the ball but they won't do anything until after the WC. Makes me wonder who wrote this

Assuming that it is the most perfect ball I think that it is more affected by how it is delivered and atmospheric conditions such swirling winds, maybe even the air disturbances created by the players and their movements.
The perfection of the ball now shows up the previoulsy hidden imperfections of the players and environment.

I always thought they'd want a less than perfect ball, perfect sphere's don't do well aerodynamically. Same with golf balls.
 
I feel for goal keepers, but it should make it easier for the strikers. Tevez goal yesterday just proved why the super light ball is amazinG!!!!
 
The ball flies 5% faster AFAIK (even faster at altitude). This affects everything - the bounce, the timing of headers, the curve of the ball, the distance is travels, everything. There isn't anything WRONG with the ball, it's just different - hence why the play improved after the first round of games as the players adjusted to it. It's the roundest soccer ball ever, but that doesn't mean it's the best. It's all trial and error, and it always has been. The players etc have no excuse as they've had the opportunity to use the ball for months.

I thought they only got the ball 2 weeks before the WC starts? Even so, that is more than enough time to adjust.

No, they had it since last year already. Germany used it in their league I think. So did the USA. England, for some reason, chose not to.
 
I think the Premier League has its balls sponsored by Nike, which is why they refused to use the Adidas ball. The German league (afaik) uses Adidas balls.
 
Germany didn't seem to have any problems with it lol. Even the goalie predicted the movement of the ball to perfection.
