I am a reseller for BioStar, and i have experienced NO problems with them. not 1 single complaint..i am actually very impressed with their boards with regards to value for money.

Of course Asus and Gigabyte are THE BEST by FAR, but if a client does not have or is not willing to spend that extra, i recommend BioStar Boards, and the 6100-939 M9 is a very good board from the experience i have had from them, out of interest , how much did they rush you for it?

I retail it for R549

i don't understand you people buy that crap biostar boards when u can msi boards that are far way better and relaible!?

they wanted to sell me a 6800GS for R1999 instead of a 7600GT saying they both perform the same (CafeViva (Java) Durbanville) - I rather ordered a Gainward GeForce 7600GT from Take 2

Have you ever used a biostar board?

For a while there (beginning last year) MSI boards had a lot of problems.

how can you then say biostar is crap, if you haven't ever used them?

I havent used them either, so i cant judge them, but i have had quite a few problems with MSI boards

OK.. I have used them both, and would take MSI over Biostar anyday. TBH Biostar is a crap brand.

well, i am a reseller for BioStar, Asus, Gigabyte, Chaintech, Foxconn, MSI, etc etc..

and i have had NO call backs on any of my products..
in fact, the "cheaper" ie BioStar boards actually suit there purose better than MAJOR brands..

think about it this way, the top end boards, ASUS, Gigabyte, are always being critised. they are excellent boards, but someone will always find something wrong with them and nitpick..

the people that are on the type of budget that go the biostar route, really dont give a damn, their pc must just work..

and they do that well, it doesnt need to be fancy for them..

so here's the verdict:

BioStar - excellent value for money, entry level MB..

Asus, Gigabyte, etc = Excellet quality boards, for those on a higher budget, that want everything to be better than perfect, and if its not, they complain.

if you fall into the later cataogry, then dont buy a biostar board.
simple..

a porsche may be a vw but @the end of the day, but dont expect the vw to perform like a porsche..

hopefully you understand what i mean by that.

Here's some good advice: before buying any PC Componant first google it and find out what others say about it or if it has any defects.

;)

Here's my opinion. If you want stability then go for the big brands like ASUS or Gigabyte. If you are like me and try to make everything work no matter what then go for brands like Chaintech and MSI. Yes, the other brands do include some overclocking features, but generally not as much as I like as they still take care of most settings themselves and then market the board with fancy names to sell it to overclockers. If you need those stuff then you are just another pc user and not a real overclocker imo.

And I suppose you are a real overclocker right? Ad what is a real overclocker btw?

Also you do know that MSI is a larger gfx card AIB than Asus and gigabyte combined?

It is true that with a biostar board you're not likely to get all the settings you get on a DFI or say high end Asus boards, but like DataMine said...

The answer is simple. Imo a real overclocker won't let the manufacturer take care of the settings as that is not the ideal solution for all the components combined and the speeds the user wants. I want control over every setting (which I currently don't have thanks ASUS :(). But if you're not an overclocker then don't worry as we are a bit like Telkom in that regard - don't like the competition. :D

And call me stupid but I can't really make out for sure what you mean by that second line.

Athlon 64 3000+
Will try to run it up to 4000+ with watercooling after I figure out the correct "jumper" settings courtesy AMD technical documents.

I guess i can't but there is so many people here that complains about it it gives me an idea of how bad the products is since i have never had problems with msi or gigabyte and asus

Um yes, the real overclocker who doesn't know that all AMD cpu's save for FX series are locked and can't be unlocked. Add to which you would never be able to get a 4000+ no matter how hard you tried because a 4000+ is a different core than the 3000+ as it features 1MB L2 instead of 512K. AMD technical documents or whitepapers as the rest of us know them don't deal with multipliers, but ground points, data point pin outs and the like. They are more a guide on how to design/interface a motherboard based on the CPU rather than about the CPU itself as that's interlectual property.
But then again you're a real overclocker\ borderline engineer right <_<
