Java in schools?

Hi there

When I was in school we did Turbo Pascal. I hear they now using Java for the past 4 or 5 years.

Anyone know where I can get a download of the school version and a manual?

I'm doing Java at school and any material we have is in text books. Why do you specifically want a school Java manual?

Because Turbo Pascal is the only programming language I did and the school manuals start from the basics

I don't have any serious programming projects in mind - I just want to check it out.

Then you can definitely use NetBeans, it's easier to use than BlueJ

I'm amazed that now technology has being introduced in school. I remember back in the days when I use to school. Technology was never field one would of thought, but now the country needs skilled people, as people these days are hard to replace with loads of experience in the field.

I did Java in school We used textbooks though, a locally made one...can't remember the name, I think one of the authors was Delia Kench (who also sets the final exam!). We used JCreator and Java SE

We used a (very basic) compiler called "Ready to Program". During tertiary education we used NetBeans (my personal favourite that can only be rivaled by Eclipse).

If you want am easy step by step introduction that well explains all of the steps, with examples etc, just see the Java tutorial on their website. go to the sun website and search for java tutorial. you should find it. there's also a downloadable version if you want to read it when not connected to the internet.

That's nothing, when I were in school we used Turtle Basic or something like that
