Hey everybody, i tried to search for older posts about jealousy but couldn't really find anything specifically referring to the subject.
I have a big problem, I'm suffering from jealousy and its affecting my friendship with a close friend of mine. I recently told her that i like her but got rejected, I'm over that part but I'm suffering from jealousy. I get really jealous when i see her out and she doesn't speak a lot to me and when I don't get the same kind of attention her other guy friends get.
Do any of you guys/gals have any suggestions as to how i can overcome this problem?

Just get over her. Go out with your mates and go hook up with some random. If your feelings for her are as strong as it sounds and given that you got bounced, then bounce her back and tell her to take a hike, clearly she doesn't appreciate you as either a bf or a friend.

Get a girlfriend...

That would sourt out the jealousy for sure :)

yeah I'm trying to get over her. It's just a little hard but hopefully I can get over her soon. I can't be that mean to her by telling her to take a hike but i do feel she doesn't appreciate me that much. shot for the advice

Well she was equally mean when she rejected you even tho it was in her right. Just like it's in you right to tell her to take a hike if you see it as being the only way to move on.

Like one of my ex's... broke up with me on her birthday a few years back. She still wanted to be friends but i told her to get fscked as i saw it as the only way to move on.

Ex's and "never gonna happen" crushes are always a bad idea to keep, all they do is hold you back...

+1

I'd say, go out, meet a girl and then screw her brains out and just to rub it into your "friend's" face flaunt her all over town. But this might just bring temporary relief.

I'd say in a couple of years(I assume you're still a teenager) you'd smack yourself for getting so all emotional at being rejected, move on...there's a million girls out there who'll fall for you.

Haven't u "rejected" a girl before?

It happens, try not to take it personally.
Can be any number of reasons why she did that.

It's not mean for a girl to reject a guy. She doesn't have to hook up with him just to make him feel better.

WTF are u on about. Plenty of women out there bru! Get over it!

Dude that's technically very true, but if it's a specific one you want, someone else just won't do.

Have you got something to be angry at her for? Did she do something that really upset you? Something she did when she had no regard for you and your feelings? Perhaps the way in which she rejected you?

Try think of that and keep that anger alive for a while, and eventually you won't want to be around her.

She is given you less attention because she wants you to forget the idea that there is any chance between you and her.

You can do 2 things. Give her the finger (proverbially speaking) and terminate the friendship or you can weather the cold and wait for her to warm up to you again (it might take a very long time).

I looked into this for a friend of mine a couple of weeks back...

From Wiki:

Jealousy typically refers to the negative thoughts and feelings of insecurity, fear, and anxiety that occur when a person believes a valued relationship is being threatened by a rival. Jealousy often contains a mixture of emotions such as anger, sadness, and disgust. While jealousy and envy are similar, they differ in that jealousy is about something one has and is afraid of losing, while envy is about something one does not have and either wants to acquire or to prevent another from getting.

If you are a Christian then Exodus 20:17 should apply to you:
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

I personally think that you should work on your envy and find the cause for it. Getting another girlfriend might just lead to you being jealous over her and that will wreck your relationship. I used to be very jealous and it caused serious problems in my relationship but I started examining myself and got to know myself better and found the reasons for it and worked on it. We were on the verge of break-up but I managed to change and today I am engaged to the same lovely woman...

Duuude!! ur a dude, go screw or go play some rugby. emo girlypants!
Start a damm bar fight or something seriously get over yourself grow a pair

You tend to see only what you want and at this moment your brain filters out the bad and presents her as this beautifull perfect stylized being and you want her.

Now to counter this try and observe whats bad about her. Maybe she sweats easily. Maybe she's nasty to some people or maybe she's a user. Maybe she's got this weird mole on her neck. Noone is perfect so by focussing on her negative points you will break the trance you put on yourself. Don't take it too far and start hating her but see her for what she is.
