Jeripico and Muscadel

I agree with you that there are more popular after dinner drinks but I still think that if you have a lady friend over for a good meal you could do a lot worse than a good Muscadel to finish off the meal. It certainly is a classy option and not just one for ignorant teenage girls.

Personally I just prefer Muscadel to the alternatives you mention. It goes down easier than a port or sherry and isn't as heavy as an Irish Coffee after a huge meal.

Yeah, I like it too. :)
Rietvallei make a great one, must be older than 5 years though, or its too sweet.

True - but there really is some great stuff available.

I am using the Grappa and Ouzzo to make my withdrawl from post dinner tequila easier. I really had a soft spot for an ice cold sippy tequila after a good meal.

What sort of Tequila did you drink that was smooth enough to drink like that? Most of the stuff you see on the shelves is so nasty you have to down it with lemon and salt.

I used to drink Sauza Tequila mostly , you can get it at Liquor Cities here in JHB.

I went on a tequila tasting evening, and to be fair, the stuff we get in bars and restaurants is seriously crap, compared to the real tequila you can get (not saying that Sauza is that btw).

But sipping on an ice-cold tequila, the way you would a whiskey is quite pleasurable. There are "single barrel" varieties of tequila as well which are quite spectacular.

i would recommend a tequila tasting to anyone who had the chance, its not a smash it in your face affair, quite civilised...but do it on a Friday if you know what i mean :erm:
