Hi guys

I am struggling to find a supplier that comes back to me for a PC quote (all promises, not one quote…). Does anybody know of a reliable PC shop for custom PC’s in the JHB arena (preferably northern suburbs)?

Regards,

RPM

I know someone, a friend of mine who has his own business in the IT field who builds custom PC's/PC's and would give you a quote regarding your specs and is very reliable but is in the South but he does also service the North...

What about Sybaritic? I have only bought a Wireless Card from them, but they were really good.

If you want a custom PC the best route is to pick and choose components. If you want I can arrange these from the various suppliers, or better yet get them from one particular supplier who can then assemble it and burn it in. Feel free to PM me if you need to get stuff direct from the dealers. This is the best route, as most "shops" have pre-built machines such that minor even modifications are headaches for them.

Cheers,
X

PS. I am in the northern suburbs (Sandringham area)

Hi Halicon

Thanks for the link. The best prices I have seen so far!

Their prices are good - but be aware that they quote prices excluding vat.

I purchased a Computer +- R18K from Computersonly, only to find that the RAM was faulty. I then waited over 5 weeks for the RAM to be replaced. Every time I phoned to see what was happening with the RAM I was greeted with an ‘oh not you again’ sort of an attitude. There was no end to the excuses that they gave me (e.g. The RAM has been discontinued. Supplier has no stock), promises were made that the RAM would definitely be in on a specific date and these promises never came to light. After the 5 weeks I told them I would like my money back as I had phoned a Sybaritic and they told me they had the RAM in stock and they had no come backs with it (Revision 2 of the RAM), this was greeted with a “we cannot give you your money back as it is past the 7 days of purchase”. They then ordered other RAM which I had shown them from Sybaritic’s website. I went to pick up the RAM yesterday. I was greeted with “I am busy now, you can wait” meanwhile the RAM was next to his desk. So I was made to wait. He then told me that I need to pay in extra yet new RAM cost less than the previous RAM! I have always referred my friends. I will never deal with this Computersonly again. I would advise others the same.

Business must be booming out there. People are just not interested in selling stuff any more. I'm still waiting for a car dealer to get back to me from 3 weeks ago.

Recession my ass ;)
