Jobs sites for software developer

Like mentioned before, VB.NET and C# are both on the .NET stack, so we'll take a C# developer since it isn't very hard to get up and running on the one if you know the other, but as far as I know, C# developers tend to stay away from VB.NET.

The application development started back in 2001 in VB6 and when we switched to .NET, our developers were all using VB and because of continuous pressure to deliver, we didn't really have time to learn the new language. Now we have a huge system but in VB.NET and although new plugins can be developed in C#, a complete rewrite is unfortunately not going to happen.

Intermediate. We're looking at around R22k to R26k, but depending on the applicant, we might be willing to go up to R30k if we find a good match.

That seems low to me. Or is it just me ?

Minimum 2 years experience in VB.NET, ASP.NET and MS SQL Server (Database Design & T-SQL) with experience in developing n-tier applications. Some experience in MVC and Javascript preferred.
I'll post a link to the full ad once we've placed it.

I've been looking around on the job sites and rates seem to range greatly from R18k to R35k for an intermediate developer. Did I mention the flexible working hours and location? :)

18k for an intermediate developer? Eish.
I started out on over 20k as a Junior.

Your logic makes no sense, if you have an entire platform written in this particular language, and if it works. It makes no logical sense to give yourself technical debt just to appease the masses on their language of choice.

We have web service written in VB which churnes out home insurance quotes from multiple insurers for millions of users daily. It's only now being re-coded in C#. I think some IT manager has decided it's an annoying anomaly. I'm not looking forward to it because it works and when certain people start fiddling they break things :) And I will probably have to modify our client end...

Yep, we had a massive credit platform written in VB6, I rewrote it in C# about a year ago.
