Jon Stewart owns atheists

Jon Stewart is totally right, they should put a mosque there instead, oh wait.. They already have.

Lets forget the whole cross thing being unconstitutional, remember those guys who wrote the US constitution, the founding fathers? Of whom most hated Christianity, remember, they were running from Europe to get away from religion which is why Thomas Jefferson rewrote the bible leaving out all supernatural crap.

So they found a steel cross in the rubble, what does that represent? Gods inability to save thousands of christians?

Nonsense false history. The Pilgrim Fathers left England because the Anglican Church was forcing everyone to be Anglican and fining those who didn't pitch up to roll call in the Anglican Church. Non-Anglican protestants and Catholics fled England so they could practice their religion without state interference. Jefferson was just a more radical Deist than some of the others. Read some history before making such silly statements.

The "free exercise" amendment to the US Constitution simply ensures that the government cannot estabish a state religion.

You are confusing to different parts of USA history... Thomas Jefferson was not a Pilgrim father, he was a founding father.
 
The seperation of church and state. I believe the head of an organisation that encourages is a church pastor, as he believes that it is in the best interest of his religion and his followers that the state does not get involved with their affairs.

Which I agree with, and various atheist organisation are aligned with.
 
Well, if the thing is being built by the government, there should not be religious imagery on it.

Also, I can't help but agree with the now much vilified president of American Atheists. All this fuss about some twisted metal, never mind the thousands that died.

But whatever, I really don't care. In the grand scheme of things it's much ado about nothing.
 
Can't watch the video as I don't have cap. However from what I gather it is about the whole not having a cross to represent the deaths of everyone on ground zero, and I completely agree with that. There were people from all religions that died there (Even muslims) and to only have a cross there makes it out, that Christains were the only ones to suffer. This also fuels the perception that the war against terriosm is basically Christians vs muslims (terriorists).

I cannot see any reason why it should only be a christain memorial at Ground Zero, and if Jon Stewart does have any good reasons please share them with, a youtubeless, me.

Not quiet, they found a cross in the mangled wreckage of the twin towers that they want to keep...
