Journo in scary race attack

Pretoria - Racism reared its ugly head when an Afrikaans-speaking man allegedly attacked an SABC journalist and his friends in Kameeldrif last Friday evening, breaking the windows of his car and telling them they were not welcome in a “white” area.

Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Lungelo Dlamini confirmed an investigation of a case of malicious damage to property had been finalised.

This, he told the Pretoria News, would be taken to the Director of Public Prosecutions for a decision.

The newsman, Tumelo Zulu, and his two friends were driving through the unfamiliar farming area in the north-east of Pretoria when the man cut them off in his white Hyundai bakkie.

The bakkie was part of a convoy of three cars.

The man approached them and hurled racial expletives at them.

In a fit of rage, he broke the windows of Zulu’s Mercedes-Benz. He later pulled out a gun and chased the four around their car, they said.

Yes, because people in convoy randomly accost vehicles that apparently don't have a reason to be in a certain area at night. If the dude was there for a good reason, surely he would have mentioned this to the media: "I was on my way to visit my sister...", "I had a business in the area..." etc. All we see is "Freedom of movement!" Hmm, just like the farm attacks, yes? Freedom of movement, freedom of murder, freedom of theft, freedom of rape, and so on.

Now, I'm not saying BMW driver was definitely up to no good, nor that he definitely provoked the "Afrikaans" speaking man. However, since at least half my brain is functional, it is rather obvious that what presented here is one side of the story. And some people (who have at least half their brains functional), know there are at least 3 sides to a story.

You, of course, are welcome to believe that what has been presented is all there is to the story. Just don't expect others to suffer from the same illusion.

Ashamed to say it's pretty close to my house and yea, some of the people living here have not yet left the 70's.

Just speaking English can get you into ****.

Friend of mine lives on the old Warmbaths road on a small holding close to Rooiwal. From that side all the way to Onderstepoort you get some "old school" farmers :o. There is even a pub there I frequent from time to time owned by the Afrikaans singer Gerhard Steyn. Even us Afrikaans okes feel out of place there.

Advice: Don't get lost there :p
 
Classy comments made in that article. This boertjie is farked. I wonder why his buddies didn't participate in his aggressive rant, maybe they went as his protection or even followed him in the case things went South, the guy probably have a history of violence.

I took a wrong turn on the way to harties once and found this little town with oxwaggon wheels on the front walls. was scary.

I think it was Dansville or something like that.... there are lots of little scary places like that.

Oh Please.. These guys hardly contribute to crime in SA.

Crime is the real issue. This is a non issue.

There can be more than one side to this story, but it is up to the parties involved to tell their side of the story. Another thing though, a person with a functional brain would have read the article, there is no BMW in this story.
