my social life is falling to pieces, im failing all my exams, all my clients are leaving because im too unreliable... but whats bothering me most is the amount of downloading this game is doing? its burning up way more megs on my cap than i expected - iv played for around 5 hours today (my first day)and used up 170+ megs. is this normal? how much do i actually need to dl before it starts slowing down to 5 megs or less per hour?
 
not supposed to use that much cap dammit! somethings chowing ur bandwidth or some damn little lame bastard is stealing ur bandwidth, they can take your social life and income, but they must never be allowed to take your cap.

google a program called Ewido and run a scan, should sort you out. either that or you downloaded the initial patches.

who knows. life sucks and then you get hijacked.
 
Ja, the initial patches and all the initial maps get downloaded the first time.. it should slow down from now on, except when you go into new areas or something like that..

I still cant wait to start... good bye social life?

It was probably updates you did not have... What chapter are you playing and what method of install did you do?

only 1 i have is nightfall. how big r the initial downloads? 2 hours last nite cost me 30+ megs. im basing this off the lan i have running btw, since the other pc isnt switched on , the only info that gets transferred is via the internet so i figure its pretty accurate. where can i check properly though? thanks!
 
checked my usage for the past weekend, and last night.

Sat online most of day : 96.97MB - Sun online whole day : 159.13MB - last night online 4 hours : 29.53MB.

My version is current with all 3 chapters and GW is the only app running when i'm online.

I think your usage is fairly accurate. Nightfall was just released last week, I think the updates will slow down in a few weeks. Then more Xmas updates later in December.

Maybe by June Chapter 4 will be released :D

im using practically double that. i was online for 2 hours and it used 23 megs. also only app running is that because of the updates? i intend buying factions, will that make more fking updates that need to be downloaded?
 
hehe... sound frustrated a bit there... Yours does sound a bit much, though ;) I almost never check mine, no need to.

I am standing by my comment in another thread where I said I think Nightfall appears to be using more bandwidth than the previous chapters.

Check out and download an app called Netlimiter, www.netlimiter.com, this will tell you exactly what is using how much bandwidth, even set some limits etc.

Yes it does, but I beleieve that you could get the Gw.DAT from someone and drop it into your own game's folder. I have only Factions and have been doing the "-image" update once or twice per week since I heard about it. My DAT file is around the 5Gb mark and it seems to be quite up-to-date.

hm ok. 2 hours - 30 megs again. i dont know how big the dat file for nightfall is spozed 2 be, but its currently sitting at 3.5 gbs. these are actually big fking files! anybody running an up 2 date nightfall they can check 4 me ? thanks 4 the help btw
 
my Dat file is 3.5GB - game is fully playabe, but with updates happening in the background. I'm gonna do a "GW.exe -image" to update it tonight, just checked and I need 26000 files updated in my Dat file.

So I guess the file will be around 5gb after.

5GB is crazy!!! :eek:
I have all 3 chapters, and have pretty much been to all areas and my gw.dat is only 3.1GB. I play pretty much every night and have not done any updates for a while, except for the dye drop update this past weekend... which was small, so ye...
I used the -image option about 2 weeks ago.

Will do another one now after the Nightfall release.
 
I have a -image (server image) for all 3. It is sitting at just over 6.5GB
If you are in JHB , I will happily let you come over and make a copy.
 
This is quite interesting... why is some so big... :confused:

I did another -image (about 1500 files) and mine has now come down a little bit, but still over 3GB...

Sounds about right for when you run it for the first time. It is basically all the game files.
Doubt the the 5GB will be the case, think it will be more the same as mine.

Would be interesting to see though.... :cool:
 
I think I'm not going to bother with it, my file is 3.5GB but my usage is low. checked my usage for last night, was online for 5 hours - 29.9MB :D
 
lol 6gigs? you guys sure you don't have two copies of the files that it's picking up???

mines also sitting at 3.2 gigs atm.
 
@ fishfly - 3.5gb is the correct size.

note I have mapped out most of the new areas and finished Nightfall.
