just bought guild wars and...

I agree with gkm. Mine's over 5G with just Factions.

huh?

my social life is falling to pieces, im failing all my exams, all my clients are leaving because im too unreliable... but whats bothering me most is the amount of downloading this game is doing? its burning up way more megs on my cap than i expected - iv played for around 5 hours today (my first day)and used up 170+ megs. is this normal? how much do i actually need to dl before it starts slowing down to 5 megs or less per hour?

You say that the game is messing up your social life, and your clients find you unreliable, and your failing your exams. you also say you played for 5 hours today, and that its your "FIRST DAY", how did 1 day of playing guild wars mess up you life so badly?

Another thing that I find hilarious about your post, is that you list all these disasters in your life, and then you say "but whats bothering me most is the amount of downloading this game is doing" HAHAHA Get your prioreties straight man.

I think he was being figurative, not literal with his opening statement. Probably found it amusing :D

For starters who in their right mind would actually post personal things about themselves in a gaming post?

Secondly he could just be trying to express the shocked look on his face due to the amount of bandwidth he's going to have to pay "Telkom" for :p

Mine was reinstalled about a month back :)

Did a -image on it and it went to that size :)
But then my e-size (e-penis) size is bigger than yours <rock>

There are two "right" sizes in my opinion. One with -image and one without. When using -image a lot more stuff gets dtored uncompressed and the .dat file size is therefore a lot bigger. Personally I prefer not to use -image to save disk space for stuff I am in any case not using, since the game has not had any reason to uncompress it for me yet.

That's fine for broadband users, but for dialup players (with sufficient disk-space), it's a blessing to have the data ready for use locally.

ROFFEL :D
What was your installation process? CD's, online, etc.

It's coz you haven't been there yet for it to want to uncompress ;)

/agree

Anyone do a check recently? My dat file was around 3 gigs, but I deleted it, logged back on (then it was about 200 megs), logged 'IN' and let the player selection screen sit there for the rest of the night.

Now my dat file is 11.9 gigs. I have all 3 campaigns.

I also deleted mine recently and copied the dat on the Nightfall disc over. It now sits, complete, at 2.94gb. Smaller than my last dat. :s
