just bought WoW - EU version...

A pvp server is levelling with an added element of danger, it's far more fun tbh and would say that i could never play on a carebear server again.

Any server is good, something like TH with a lot of saffers helps, we have a very marked sense of humour it seems.

A guild is not a must in the beginning but a levelling buddy helps
 
Twilights hammer or Magtheridon if you pick a ****y low populated server you screw yourself, these 2 are the top pve side and thus increase the economy I heard silvermoon is nice for alliance side if you wanna roll there. Another tip: don't join a South-African only guild >_< they never last , fail and die ! get some eu buddies Sa players have that nasty attitude that I am better then the rest I like playing with sweeds for once

Agreed. Used to play on a PvE server myself. The PVP aspect does make things more exciting, except when you get ganked and res-killed, etc...but it is the way WoW was meant to be played (alliance vs. horde 24/7).

A guild can be good for helping you out. But to level quickly just get a guide and follow it to the T (well, not quite). Your first toon will take ages to level because you have to learn somewhere, the more you play the easier it gets. But you'll mostly solo PvE, or sometimes have to hook up with one or two other people for a quest. If you want to level quickly then skip over dungeons, but for a first-timer I'd recommend trying them out, they are just another good piece of gameplay (but bad group = slow levelling).

Just muck about at first, then try out one of the guides (I promise you, they work).

Oh and you can PvE on a PvP server - you just have to watch your back a little. St00pid fscking Tauren hunter decided to take me out the other day and camp me. Haha! Screwed him over by going to make coffee for five mins, must've been very boring.

In my opinion take your time with your 1st char you have a lot to learn before you hit PVE endgame and most probably you wont be raiding till WOTLK on a good server, so get leveling up enjoy instances and skip using guides as much as posible www.wowhead.com is very usefull for helping you out on questing thottbot as well but the fact is you need to use your 1st char and learn how the game works. Dont be surprised if your 1st toon takes you up to 20 days to get lv70 it might be faster now with increased xp system and so forth.
And DON'T expect irl friends to help ya out 1-2 instances sure but seriously after awhile all my friends got irritating and I put em on ignore till they got 70 xD

This is true, Karazhan is struggling with pop atm and a very skewed horde/alliance ratio. Someone told me they saw alliance on our server the other night, still waiting for the screenshot

It sucks that you HAVE to register with a credit card. I would prefer to use prepaid vouchers, but what you are telling me is that initially I need a credit card to register, which will allow me to make use of my free month?

I have heard reports of people saying that you have to use a FAKE address, but also that apparently now you can use a local South Africa addres. Can you confirm this? :confused: I'd like to get all this out of the way now...

You could use a SA address since the day wow came out that's a silly rumor, secondly a normal debit card can be used to activate your account you don't need it anymore though just click on the prepaid card options.

Bought my copy on 02/09/2008... installed updates that night, started playing the evening of 03/09/2008...

Havent left my computer since! :eek:

I've got a lvl 27 warrior, and its going well. Im just jealous that other people can lvl up faster coz they earn double experience or something, its annoying. I do worry that Im leveling too slowly, can someone please confirm :confused:

Seriously though... this game is SO ADDICTIVE!! lol

When you log out at night, make sure it's in an Inn. You will see where your lvl is indicated it shows "zzz"

That means your char will rest. When you log on you will get x2 experience till you have used up your rested state :)

You get double experience with rested XP. Meaning if you log off in an Inn or a city like Stormwind you "feel rested" (the little zzz's on your profile)

Then when you next log in you get a little white bit on your bar indicating how much is rested. And until you hit that bit you get double XP.

If you play all the time it shouldn't matter though, because you'll level up faster without rested XP.

I like it though, because I play once or twice a week or maybe in a few weeks depending on how busy work gets. And then I have 1 or 2 levels to gain through rested XP so I level pretty quick. + Quest XP doesn't contribute to the rested bit, only kills, so it makes grinding easier.
 
careful with rested xp though if you use it to much you will end up at a level with no quests level 33 ish is a good level to use as a example If i don't remember wrong , then the game gets boring forcing you to run sm till your blou in the face :P

I have been logging out at an inn.. I always do this. There is this one guy, lvl 70 pally... flippin EPIC guy, and has kinda taken me "under his wing".

It has made a huge difference, especially with showing me how to make some cash. Think I broke the 70 gold barrier last night... :D

Ok so where can I get horsey when I reach lvl 30??

cant wait... :D
