Is Omega faster than the stock ROM? I've heard that CM is appears to be much faster.
I found CM faster than omega but it was not an official release, but in saying that, Omega is alot quicker than the stock rom. As you can choose what you want installed (minus all the bloat)..
Currently running Omega and I always have 50% memory free at any time.
My battery life is much better aswell. Everything works well
I never achieved this with stock.

Thanks, then it might be worthwhile to switch to Omega.
All apps continue to work, you get to choose which apps you want to grant Super User access too.
You can also have a more improved firewall running when rooted. E.g Avast AV Firewall option (Control and limit all apps that have access too Wifi / 3G.)

I think some developers/institutions (financial apps in particular) are very security conscious and so do not allow their app to run on rooted phones. So unless someone has tested these apps on a rooted phone, I can't assume that they do in fact work.
In other news, this is my latest battery life with the stock ROM for the GS4.
No root
No greenify
No power saving mode
No other power management apps or app killers or optimization tools
Location services off

My S4 is rooted. I run the Capitec app without issue.

I also use the fnb banking app daily. No issues. Fully rooted. Google edition rom.
Are you asking me with the stock ROM?
It depends on the data connectivity. I have tasker set up to automatically kill wifi and mobile data at around 00:30 and enable wifi at 7:30. I'm not sure how many percent it falls during the night, but it's probably less than 3%. I'll test this tonight to see.
Any rom, just good to know what others are getting..
I leave my wifi and data on and lose about 13% overnight which seems a bit high?

With data and Wifi off last evening, I woke up to find the battery at 99%. Granted, that was after only 5.5 hours (didn't sleep too much).

Well CM11 is still in nightly phase for the S4, wait for the stable release to come..
Or in the meantime try the Omega rom which is stable , also very quick with no bloat

TouchWiz on my S5 is also pretty impressive, stock Android will not cut it for me.
Try XtreStoLite Rom for S5, Touchwiz, but light as hell with crapware removed
Did you do a fresh install? Data Wipe? I think just try, clear cache for play services and probably remove account and re enter, also do wipe cache and dalvik.
Yes. I wiped everything and did a fresh install. Its OK now though, it was just that I'd not rebooted the phone after updating play services. I remember the same thing happening on my S2 many moons ago.
But I'm going to stick with cm at least for a few days. It looks quite polished and I'm keen to see how it performs.
