So I'm walking to the local shopping centre and decide to take the shortcut - through the very quiet subway. As I walk down the road, this guy who was standing on the corner walks behind me and although this should have been a warning, it's happened so many times before and turned out to be nothing, so I ignore it. As I start going down the steps I hear/see him running up behind me so I also run. Too late. I turn round and he grabs me and pins me against the wall and whips out an ungodly-huge knife and calmly asks for 'all my stuff'. I'd say I was 70% terrified and 30% in disbelief that my number had finally come up. I gave him my wallet and phone and he pushed me back and shouted at me to run back in the opposite direction.

So what he got was a wallet with R150 in it, $500, banks cards and my N73. Not a bad haul. But unfortunately for me, none of it is insured... I was just terrified that he would stab me anyway (it happens) so I suppose I ought to be thankful that he let me go, but call me an ungrateful, racist white bastard, but thanks for nothing, c**t...

Anyway, since he was waiting on the corner and these guys are known to stick to their own 'beat', the chances are pretty good that he'll be back there. I'm so f**king pissed at this. I WON'T let it go. I know my chance of getting my stuff back is less than zero, but I can't tolerate this little scrote (for need of a far more un-pc term) just sitting there and doing it again. I don't own a gun but what can I do?

Any suggestions greatly appriciated.

That sucks to hear Mastercarder.. :(

You could always just hold off for a bit (a few days) then if you see him there again, kick his head in, or get yourself and a few mates to drag him off to the cops.

BUT, you should report it to the police ASAP, get your cell blacklisted and stop all your cards.... (which I'm assuming you've done already)... but most importantly contact the police and report it.

Yeah, I've cancelled my number and cards but it was still a ton of cash I won't get back... :(

Didn't bother reporting it but I suppose just for the record I'll do that tomorow. If I drive past there and see him again I'll try getting a photo of him (and let him see me do it) then hopefully sometime I can get behind him and smash his face in with this baton

Sorry to hear that dude.

Remember to report it to the police within 24 hours of the incident.

The usual "they robbed me but I was sooo lucky that they did not kill me" thing gets to me every time. These bastards deserve to die(down some battery acid perhaps?) because they are ruining a country that used to have so much potential.

True, you do not hear whities robbing people in the street. Funny thing...when you go out to eat anywhere, how often do you see white people as waiters ? Lately been taking note and not once in the last month anywhere in Sandton

Thanks Marine...I knew you'll back me up :D

Guys why do yourl choose to run theres only one guy if your confident then smash his face...It works for me..Or at least cary something for protection and dnt take shortcuts...Be aware , if someone follows you suspiciously and your really sure his plotting you knock him down before he knows wats happening.I`ll give you a tip if confronted by a robber quickly remove your top so he cannot grab you and act mad make as if your crazy haha i`ve seen this work many times.

You know, youre 100% correct, but the problem is....WHY...does a person have to live in fear?...Its not right?...Its like this one guy ( i think Admin deleted the post ), but his family came over from overseas to visit him, and they get mugged the same night??..i mean...geez...give us a break!...but i hear you, and at the present, thats the only way...you cant walk around without protection ( not meaning condoms ) :(

Whoah! Sorry to hear that! Glad you're ok. Thats the most imortant thing. I mean material possessions can always be replaced.

Be alert of your surroundings, sometimes guys tend to follow you for a bit... Change your route & times if you can.

I'm not 100% sure, but have you considered getting your phone traced. When I had mine stolen, even tho the thieves had taken out the sim, a frienf of mine managed to trace the phone.

Did you report it to the police? It may seem pointless but if they know & have it on file & do recover your stuff at least you can claim it back...

Im sorry to here this :( at least ur ok

wow R150 aint nothing but $500 :( the guy probably doesnt even know the value of it and just throw it away

Thanks, all. Good idea on the phone-trace, but where can I get it done? Also, he might well have sold it already or something.
