Just recieved the new VM DATA sim , GUESS what

I'm also linked and running - it works without the initialiasion string in the modem settings - the Huawei picked the card up and configured the settings. All running on my side - as you say speed is definately down to what it was but it is bearable if there is no ADSL available - I will take it on the road later this week and enjoy cheap mobile internet access - no worries about going over bundle - checking usage on a bundle and hoping that you will not underutilise yr bundle and loose what you paid for. That is the main reason I do not and will not buy bundles - I'd rather use slower access and not have the hassels.
 
When will I get my Virgin Mobile sim? Still NO word from them.Still waiting,My patience is running out.
 
Got mine today:D . It's running in my phone(Nokia6230) and datacard (E620) as well. Speed is not that great but at least I got 85kbps.

OOOh it have just disconnected:mad: . --- Connect it quickly.

I will now try and play with different settings to see if I can speed things up.

I got my 128k SIM today as well. I managed to get it working in my MTN Huawei Data card without any hassles.

BUT: :(

I am not impressed at all !!!! I have a good GPRS/EDGE signal but the best speed so far was 58 kbps !!!

I got a "Data card invalid" message from my MTN Dashboard program. It is the third time it happened tonight.

It also time-outs on web pages quite often.

Thank you Virgin Mobile, but no thanks !!!!

I am back on MTN for now !!!!

EDIT: MTN is also slow 2nite. Is the network overloaded ? Boring TV perhaps. ;)

I will give VM another change when the conditions are better.

Also went back to MTN, but even MTN's 3G in my location is slower than VM tonight. Maybe overload on networks.

So, back to VM for now.

Just to mention, are you guys keeping your mobile with the VM sim with you for the call?? Even though I did specify an alternate number, they contacted my via my VM sim in a mobile I kept with me just in case. I did not answer the first call and as it was a blocked number, I could not call back.. They did however call me the next day via VM sim.
 
got 2 x new VM sims delivered to my door this morning!!
called them but the old ones have not been deactivated yet...waiting for then deactivation and activation of new sims
