Hi all

I've just signed up with openweb and paid via creditcard, which they claim "Instant Access", however I'm a bit confused, I have not received an email with login info. Is the username and password that I use to login to the openweb account area the same that I must use in my router?

Thanks.

You should have received a mail but after creating the account, you have to activate it in the control panel, dont forget that and also make sure you dont check the box to have it activated on the 1st of Jan.

no its not... dont you have to send openweb a proof of payment before they can activate your account?
No, they say Instant Access if you pay by credit card.

I see no option to activate anything, all it says is

ADSL User

To Be Assigned

Status
Pending

Well I got the sms to say it's been deducted from my account, that was instant enough, I'm a bit miffed about this so called instant access that obviously doesn't exist.

there is a delay with all credit card payments throughout the whole of south africa at the moment. i bought an item online a week ago and it was delayed as well.

it shows payment made, it deducts it from your account, but there is a 2 - 3 day delay before it shows up on the recievers account.

i bought from cellularmall and they told me that they have been fighting with the banks and there is nothing they can do, it is a nation wide problem at the moment.

so that might be why it shows pending :(

if you forward them proof of payment it will speed up the proccess alot tho :)

If you looking for good service then I would recommend Webafrica. OpenWeb can be a bit slow especially when it comes to getting new accounts activated whereas WebAfrica is pretty much instant.

Thanks, but too late now, they already got my money :( I'll just have to sit and wait.

Correction - prices were good. Their 5Gb shaped just shrank to 4

correction, as the prices went up those packages; 10g shaped would have costed R569 something and this is why its now on the page its now only as 8G and 4G as they are in the same pricing as the old 10 gig and 5 gig.

if you look at the other isp's they are also selling their bandwidth @ higher rates from jan 2009 onwards

I feel your pain! This totally sucks. It feels like I'm buying hope, hope that someday our telecoms market will stop milking us but I always get disappointed.

Screamer have kept their low rates the same for 2009.
