Kalahari's Gobii Ereader compatible with Calibre software?

It says ePub books are supported, which Calibre supports, so I would think so yes.
 
Calibre works with anything, even a phone. It might not have a specific profile for your device, but then just select "generic" or something similar.

As for formats, Calibre supports pretty much all of them. And the Gobii supports epub which is the industry standard. (Apart from Kindles of course, they're trying to be the Apple of readers with their proprietary bull****).
 
The freebie Calibre is in fact useful for a whole bunch of stuff to do with e-books, not just the aforementioned easy conversion of EPUBs to the Kindle's required MOBI format. You can use it as an easier way to create Collections, and it even has its own reasonably user-friendly way of, um, 'dealing with' DRM. Also invaluable when you want to standardise your books because they often have varying ways of listing an author alphabetically, for instance (firstname lastname or the other way around?) or adding metadata, changing the cover, etc.

On the same sort of subject, if you need to edit a dodgy e-book text, another freebie is your friend: SIGIL. Bit of a learning curve and some back and forth conversion is required, but it does work. Either that or just use Calibre to convert to RTF (which MS Word will happily read and edit), and then convert back to your MOBI or EPUB format when finished.
 
Calibre is just evil for a e-reader.....going through something stupid like a book very 3-4 days, add that to Goodreads to help my queues, it's just awesome :D.
 
That's a nice little gadget. I wouldn't ever buy one for reading books on though.
