Kallis choked again

I won't say the pitch was rubbish, just because the pitch had allot to give to the spinners doesn't make it bad. IMO there should be more pitches like this, because if the majority of the games are going past 300+ the game is way to biased in favour of the batsmen. And what was that with a batsmen getting the MotM award, it should have gone to Broad. Both teams played on that pitch, England just played better.

The point is, the pitch shouldn't be the decider, the players should.

Some of the turn and bounce on there was unplayable, and IMHO, it takes the skill away, and replaces it with luck.

So if South Africa got more pwnd by the pitch, that's ok? ... I do however understand your point, we both played on the same pitch, i just don't think the pitch should decide who wins.

So maybe a rubbish pitch, but we never read it right. Our bad. I consider it lesson learnt and hope the team learns from the experience ;)

If you look at the difference between the two teams you will see that England's seemers got it in the right place more often than the South African seemers. For most part our seemers let the game go, where our spinners got the most out of the pitch. I think we made the wrong decisions after we got England to 15/3. Robin Peterson played his best game ever, and only Morne bolwed more ecconomically than him.

The pitch didn't decide, our bad decision put England back in the game. The pitch was always going to be low scoring, and letting someone get a 99 partnership against mainly seam bowlers. while our opening spinner had them in all sorts of trouble, was where the game changed.

And Kallis didn't choke, he just didn't perform. He hasn't this whole world cup, so we can't call him a choker - but we should be asking some serious questions about his form if he don't get a score soon. I know he had an injury, but he shouldn't be playing if he can't make a decent score.

I expected our team to win with a total that low. Disappointed by our performance.
Don't even get me started on our "great all rounder"...

He was injured during the test series against India. Not easy to come back from injury and start performing immediately in foreign conditions.

More questions should be asked of Smith's form, which has been average for a while now.

Yea but when kallis is on a bad run nobody questions that ever. Smith will come good, kallis looks horrific and seems to be the only positive looking player  maybe the slow ass game killing tag is getting on his nerves.

Kallis needs to catch a serious wake up and start playing to his full potential. The worlds best all rounder never to win a world cup "choker"

My opinion, had the proteas failed to cross the line, it was Kallis fault.
He scored runs, for himself, killed the game IMO.

But they did not fail, did they?

Instead India chocked...

Kallis put an enormous amount of pressure on the lower order. We might have won this game but in future we shouldn't depend on bowler to bat the way they did yesterday because at least 50% of the time it's not going to happen.

I couldn't fault Kallis on yesterdays match, well because he batted like Kallis

This.

I watched as he caused the required RR to go from 6 to 7 to 8 and then I thought her we go again...

He has all the talent in the world but sometimes they don't think that putting undue pressure on the lower order is just gonna lose us the game.

Lower order? The pressure was on the middle order which finally delivered. SA's middle order has been quite average of late, and Kallis is definitely been playing better than the middle order.

Kallis was good yesterday, it wasn't easy to score runs off those indian spinners and he did it at a reasonable rate and they kept the run rate manageable. The middle orders job is to bad in pressure and the rate never really got past 8, which is always gettable in the last 10-20. His target would have been to bat through and try launch a few big shots late on, even if he scored at a slow rate who would have got those runs? He got just over 20% of the runs we needed, and the fact is guys like AB, Van Wyk and Du Plessis are there to accelerate the innings and score at better than a run a ball. Kallis is there to be solid and build a strong innings and a good partnership with someone in the top order.
