Kara

Yeah, Kara kinda requires 3 healers when you're first starting out. Best setups for the first two bosses tend to be 2 tanks, 3 healers, and at least 2 CC's in the form of shackle or traps. Thats how I started out and it worked very nicely. Nowadays, as TheShogun said, I can tank Attumen and his horsie at the same time, with only 2 healers and all out dps without even breaking a sweat, but that is highly gear dependant.

Just keep trying, with 10 players and a decent combination, and you'll get it right. Persistence is key. :P

Been to kara a couple of times now - but we are not the most skilled raiding group on this planet.

Week 1 we did Attune, Moroes and Maiden (yeah - it took us the whole week)
Week 2 we did attune and moroes
So 2 weeks back we enter week 3 of our raiding group - you would think we would start getting better - nope - wrong, actually getting worse - took us 3 days to kill moroes - now what to expect of week 4, well - it was epic.

Week 4 we start of - our OT decided he cant continue paying millions of chinese every week to farm gold just for repair bills just because we whipe every time. So we decide lets go kara with 9 - so we go, minus one tank.

We get to attune - and i dont know how - we kill him with one tank.
Go to moroes - kill him with one tank - our GM then gets us a new OT and we sorted
we kill Maiden - 1st try.
This whole excersize took about 4 hours - tired - we all go to bed and decide that sunday is the day we go legendary.

We start at 1 yesterday - kill the wolf, kill the curator, kill shade - play some chess and then we march up to prince - and 30 mins and 2 wipes later - i'm the proud owner of a standard A Sunfury bow of the Phoenix!!

Moroes + Aran are/were the hardest learning curves of Kara
(I used to love my lufa vs his garrote)

We got moroes down after... something like 44 attempts

Gratz on the bow... rather rare drop imo (when i wanted it, it wouldnt drop, i ninja'd it on a zerg run gearing alts :p)

We went in this weekend with a bunch of alts and non-Raiders. I think it started as one of my worst Kara experiences yet.

On Maiden the MT kept pulling her off center onto the Pally despite his numerous vocal attempts on Vent to get her moved.
The Druid OT was using +AP Trinkets and greens better suited to DPS. When he was asked if he was Crit immune his response was "Huh?"
We attempted NB and after 1 wipe decided against it.
Some kicking and reshuffling occured with a new MT and some changes to the DPS and healing and we proceeded to tear through the place.
Just after Curator our Druid healer types into Raid Chat "Sorry guys my dogs not breathing i need to go"
Followed by much "wtf"
Replaced our Druid who ran off to the Vet and then cleared everything except Spite as our Lock had to go and no one really needed anything off him.

Stupid Prince and Illhoof continued to refuse to drop me a new offhand so got my Season 1 Pummeler this weekend.
Our Elemental Shammy had paroxysms of delight when Lightning Capacitor dropped so at least someone got some loot.

All in all one of my strangest Kara runs.

we attempted moroes twice last night and wiped - we would have tried again but people always seem to "need to go" when the going gets tough lol.
We cruised through attumen (unlike the last time).

so we are improving...

any tips for moroes?

we only had one priest (2 droods were healing) - so we shackled the caster add that unshackles and heals her mates - we killed the adds off but then the garrote got me and one of the healers so we went downhill from there... :/

The longer the fight the harder it gets because of the Garrote.

1. The adds needs to die quicker
2. Let the MT tank him against a wall
3. When he vanishes all stand with their back against the wall (Can't Garrote then)

It does happen that someone might get Garroted only cos they didn't stand against the wall well enough, or he vanished and did the Garrote very quickly. But having 3 people with Garrote is better than 6 or 8

Hope it helps

Only one Priest isn't a problem. In fact you'll seldom Raid with more.

The healer is a push over so what might be better is to Shackle on of the high DPS adds and just get all your DPS to pwn the Healer Add as soon as you pull. Don't worry about a Tank or anything, just destroy her coz she hits like a fairy.

If you've got a Huntard around get him to Kite/Trap/Pet OT one of them.

Thats 4 Adds out of the equation (Shackle, Dead Healer, Huntard, OT) quickly. From there you can either burn Moroes or can an add at a time.

yeah no huntard there :/

we did however have three tanks - maybe it was a bit much

Imo, its better to nuke them first than to OT (requires more concentration from the healers as well as the garroted targets)

We've had a enhance shammy frostshock kite the adds 1 at a time while a lock + hunter nuked it down

@ shotgun

we where 3 huntarts - killing prince last night - not to bad for a bunch of losers??.

2 mages
3 pallies
2 priests
3 hunters

What would you guys say would be teh ultimate mix for a kara team - a no switch team - one that can clear it one time.

I've seen a youtube clip of 10 pallies doing kara

Edit after Nicks Reply - there is a rumor that 5 warlocks also cleared it - its on some raid website - but i will pay good money to c that

3 Huntards on Prince isn't an issue at all since Prince is a Range Friendly fight.

Try playing melee and having to run in and out for those damn Enfeeble/Nova combo's and still pwn the meters.

Though it gets problematic when the hunters are BM:
Healers wont, or dont heal pets on their own will. When the BM pet dies, there goes a chunk of personal + raid dps. Ofc a hunter who knows what hes doing will keep the pet alive

Yes, we can res our pet in combat, but we cant feed it, so it loses 25% of its dmg each time it dies

Hmm, imo the ultimate grp setup: 1.5 tanks (warrior + druid OT with dps gear), 3 healers (priest + resto druid + resto shammy/ another priest), 5.5 dps (hunter + mage x2 + lock + druid OT in dps gear + shadowpriest/enhance shammy)... only place i see rogues being wanted : moroes (crippling adds) ,aran (kicking), with the above setup they wouldnt be needed ~ i dont like rogues tbh, they give no grp buffs, and are more of a pvp class... pve version of a rogue = enhance shaman!

Lol Option the Rogues in my guild would die if they saw you say that. Personally I just lol and continue to hit things.

Does Prince's Enfeeble Knacker your pets HP as well?
I thought the pet changes made them AoE proof.

Enfeeble doesnt touch pets, the Nova can, my pet often avoids it :)

The trouble with pets on Prince, isnt his shadow nova, its the infernals
When they land close, and the tank narrowly escapes the fire's range, our stupid pets try get behind Prince (same issue on NB... ty blizz -.-) and end up getting nuked, often when the tank is between the wall, with an inferal on the other side burning away

With regards to Moroes, we have both tanks take Moroes to the side next to the end of the table. The adds either gets shackled/trapped/kited but nuked down first then everybody turns to Moroes and makes him cry like a little girl.

I'm raid leader for my Kara team, and I found this the best stratagies:

For Attunemen, its pretty much a tank and spank. Our MT can normally hold both mobs, and we normally just burn down 1 of them. When Attunemen gets on his horse, we recommend that everyone gets fairly close to the MT, just to stop the mob from doing his charge interrupt on random people. We've had the horse drop twice from this guy. I just wish I were a little more lucky on the rolls.

For Moroes's adds, you need to look up what their skills are on wowwiki. You'll see 2 of the adds are healers, 1 will be a tankadin add, and the other will be a Warrior (with Mortal Strike). We have 1 tank on Moroes, and 1 off-tank for the tank add. We decide on a kill order.. where we kill the 2 healer adds, then the Warrior.. then Moroes. When Moroes dies, his garrote debuff gets taken off. I'd recommend having a priest & hunter for this fight.. just so you can kill the adds one at a time. Our guild has a 3-healer rule for Kara (as a safety measure), so I'm not sure if this method would work with 2 healers.

For Maiden, we have 1 healer that is on dispell watch. As soon as Holy Fire hits, it gets dispelled. Not much else to add here, but just to make sure that the healers have a line of sight on everyone.. and spread out during the fight.

For Curator, we put our team ( minus the MT) in a semi-circle or horse-shoe shape. We have all dps on the flare, and when the last flare comes, we have half-dps on curator, half-dps on the flare. Also using Seed of Corruption on Curator helps a little with the flares.

For Shade, we don't use a tank. We have shamans & rogues on interrupting duty for frostbolts and firebolts. We also have 1 experienced person making the ranged dps & heals move away from the Blizzard. Other than that, its not very difficult. We've had people move during Flame Wreath, and still managed to kill Shade. I do agree though, it is not pretty.

For Illhoof we have 2 Warlocks, 1 MT and a Warrior for OT. Seed of corruption is key for the annoying adds. We force our team to use a macro that targets the Demon Chains.. just so we can burn through it faster. We let the Warrior go nuts on Illhoof's demon, but we try to time it straight after someone has been in demon chains... so we have no interruptions on when we're burning down Illhoof.

I have nothing to add for Nightbane. A lot of people here have mentioned some sound stratagies. I just can't stress how important it is to move out of the charred earth. I have only downed Netherspite once, and haven't tried since. The mob is pretty difficult because of the timer, and a lot of my guild don't need anything from him.

I'm a MM hunter, and I never have my pet out for Prince's fight. We have killed him about 7 or 8 times in a row without wiping, but I'm putting that down to just pure luck with where the infernals drop. We have a rogue on our team that survives pretty much most of the fight, but he does run around lot when enfeebles hits.. hitting cloak of shadows.

@ Ainsin

Interesting strat, each raid grp has different tacts that work. Back when doing kara took effort, we downed 2 adds (depending on the add setup, the healer and dispeller), nuked Moroes, kept the last 2 adds CC'd till Moroes died

I hate how much of a luck fight prince is... even with t5-t6 geared raid members, he can still wipe you. Rumor has it that the first LB guild to down him (Trauma at the time), used the door hack to kill him before blizz fixed it
Have you gotten the Sunfury yet? Took me something like 23 runs to get it
