Kara

well we need to get out strat down the, both kara runs have had no hunter and only 1 priest so CC'ing two of them was never an option.

Next time we'll put MT on moroes and take the hunter along for FT, one at a time sounds better - only problem would be keeping the second add in FT for the whole game yeah? how long does it last and what is the cooldown?

This is the part where you see how skilled your guild hunters are...

Frost trap has a 30sec CD, and lasts for 20sec (Untalented), with 20 points in Survival, the duration is 26sec, with 41 points in Survival theres an instant ability reset button (Readiness, same as Preparation i believe).

Easiest way to bring the CD of 30sec down is getting 2x BeastLord set D3 gear (Decreases trap cooldown by 4sec)

Most raiding hunters on the Kara level are either MM/Surv, or BM/MM, deep survival isnt viable at the kara level since your agility (most important factor along with +crit rating) isnt high enough to help the raid compared to TSA/FI

I wont go into the basics on how to trap. Being the rebel i once was, not having 2 pieces for the set bonus, i would lay a trap, run to the otherside of the room, kite the mob till my trap CD'd, lay another 1 and continue nuking. Problems arise when the trap gets "Resisted" (think its an 8% chance against a lvl 73)

What i do i lay the trap - then every 30secs after that till we go - thus when my 1st trap hits - 1 have one available incase of the resist - if the 1st one works - i move back about 5 yards - place another and then nuked the main target. Thus - if there is no resist - i can trat the target 3 times - before i have a w8 time on trap

If i get a resist, i QQ like a girl, run round then FD, and leave it for the healers to tank :p if we have an OT (rarely) it picks up the loose add when a resist occurs, otherwise the dps kites it back to me to retrap

lol - this is why hunters have a bad name - in our guild we say - he who Feign Last - gets the best loot

The trick for good loot is.
DPS like hell - tank loose aggro - FD - party dies - loot while everyone is out of instance - get the good stuff - change realms

@ shotgun

we where 3 huntarts - killing prince last night - not to bad for a bunch of losers??.

2 mages
3 pallies
2 priests
3 hunters

What would you guys say would be teh ultimate mix for a kara team - a no switch team - one that can clear it one time.

I've seen a youtube clip of 10 pallies doing kara

Edit after Nicks Reply - there is a rumor that 5 warlocks also cleared it - its on some raid website - but i will pay good money to c that

5 locks clearing kara on their ace???
this i gotta see

nick - i got the link to the pallies at home - will post it - but i cant find the lock one - till then its still a rumour!!

On Maiden the MT kept pulling her off center onto the Pally despite his numerous vocal attempts on Vent to get her moved.
Quite. I was seriously considering letting the tank die after he did it a third time.

Eish FD is a huge risk in that scenario - its likely you will just get a healer killed and you will never be able to continue kiting that mob with no threat on it. Also if you're kiting the dps warrior - when it runs into the healers - its more then likely that he will whirlwind and hit anybody clumped in that area.

Best bet imo if trap gets resisted is to have either a mage be ready with a frost nova or a pally be ready with a turn undead. Turn undead is on too slow a cooldown to be used to permanently cc a mob but its good for emergencies.

Keep in mind through that you don't need to use a hunter to kite the mob - a frost mage can do it fine and as mentioned earlier a shammy can frost shock kite a mob for ages.

tanks
1x warrior tank
1x palla tank

dps
1x lock
2x mage
2X hunterz

healerz
1x priest
1x palla
1x shaman

altough be it you need more priests for shackle, the shaman can be replaced by a priest.

Usually we dont wipe with a group like this.

my guild downed attumen first time we went in. We then took 4 weeks to kill Moroes. That was depressing. When we did kill him we did it with no deaths. Our next big obstacle was Aran. Just a painful bugger. Took 2 weeks to get first Prince kill from our first try. Now we clear Kara in 4hrs. We could probly do it quicker, but people gotta put kids to bed, get more beer, take a pee, cause they have had too much beer etc., mid raid. lol. the joys of a casual guild.

The thing about Prince from a tank perspective is that you need to have some +hit or expertise(unlikely you will have expertise). What kills the tank is when he parries the tanks attacks and gets a buff attack spd buff in phase 2 and then uses his thrash ability. You can take 20k dmg in seconds. If you are low on +hit make sure your healers know to over heal in his phase 2. Dont cancel their big heals cause you are topped up, cuase you wont be by the time it lands. Last night we downed him first time with our mage only having lvl70 5man blues, 2 healers where on their 2nd trip. We had a well geared pally healing. The rest where geared with Gruul. Kara, Void Reaver and a few Lurker epics. I had Gruul and Kara epics except for T4 helm(which after last night I now have). My hp never went below 60%. We only had to reposition once when we got louzy infernals and 2 melee dps died while tanked the last 5% next to an infernal(hp went to 30% at that time) :)

We generally will wipe on Prince once or twice. Sometimes someone in for the first time doesnt listen and we wipe on Aran or Netherspite :)

I agree FD is a huge risk, our kara runs are casual slacker badge runs tho, we do occasionally wipe. When we do, the guy who caused the wipe, pays for repairs, or 1 of the officers takes the repair money outta the gbank. Theres never any tension, unless its alts fiighting over Prince's blade

A solid composition is

tanks - warrior and druid
heals - paladin, shaman and priest
dps - priest(shadow), rogue, warlock, mage, hunter

Using a druid offtank as opposed to a paladin is nice for aran/prince where he can dps decently. Priest and paladin as main heals and shammy as raid works solidly, a shadow priest helps mana for the healers and casters an also offers a second shackle for moroes/trash making it easy mode, warlock is needed for illhoof and netherspite(blue beam) and imp buff for tank, mage is good for aoe trash and other magey stuff, and a hunter is all round good to have for various things (some mobs can be trapped, MD pull on Prince is good to have, etc).
