Keep getting disconnected, why?

OK, I'm p1ssed off too, ever since yesterday NEOTEL just disconnects...I'm trying to download an 800mb file and its only gone 10%. I haven't used up like more then half of my cap, WTF. Where's the NEOTEL REP GUY????

Very frustrating; I also get real cranky when I don’t get my daily internet fix :D
_______________

Lord, grant me patience, for Neotel know not what they do.............but please hurry:rolleyes:

Just to throw my ticket into the pot. Also having continous dcs in bellville :/

Sucketh the mucheth of pooper :(

one thing I've realised...

one thing i've realised is that when ever i download or go to streaming website like youtube, it disconnect after a minute...

or downloading anything...RS, Zshare or anything, it dc...

so NEOTEL, can you please help out with this???

The Neotel service desk confirms they have a problem. What I cannot appreciate is that they schedule maintenance but do not perform adequate tests to ensure that the changes are working. Until this was confirmed they should have restricted the maintenance teams from leaving.

The second issue is that the Neotel service desk is not kept up to date as to the status of the problem, what the technical teams are doing to rectify the situation, and an estimated time for restoration of the service.

To summarise the problem is that the service is continually disrupted by what appears to be device resets. i.e. if you observe the router status via the 192.168.0.1 web page the device loses IP address + DNS addresses frequently (approximately every minute).

Neotel REP,
Please explain why this situation was left unattended this weekend, or viewed differently why we all should not consider cancelling our contracts for lack of service consistency?

Thank God, I thought it was just me.
But it still doesn't cut it. I've been having disconnects aswell since Sat morning.
My problem is that it eventually hangs and I have to restart before it will connect again.

Well it looks like the problem is sorted, at least on this side...

According to call centre, this issue should be resolved within the next 5 days. That was the most ridiculous answer I have recieved to date

Lol, no, I have come the the conclusion that they are not that far up the evolutionary chain yet

I thought the problem would be sorted out by today, so I resumed my download....and guess what...it still disconnects like a b1t^&.

WTF, I bet the problem will only get sorted out next month, when I get my new data bundle...so the fact is I'd have lost 3.5 gigs of still month's data bundle.

Hi all,

I have had a meeting this morning and provided your feedback regarding the disconnect issue to the engineering team. I now await feedback and will post as soon as I have an explaination / solution.

Also experiencing the connection drop in Pretoria. (NeoFlex - Moot Area)
I however can see a clear as daylight change in performance through the external antenna I purchased from Poynting Direct.
With the antenna on, I experience connection drops when the bandwidth hits 1.5mbs. With the devices own antenna I get an avarage of 600 to 890Kbs. The actual throughput I experience is around 60 to 70K per second.
I purchased the antenna from http://www.poyntingdirect.co.za/ and it is sold as a NEOTEL Antenna Kit.
Thing is, it does improve the performance with standard web browsing drastically, UNTIL you hit a graphics intensive site, then BANG! there goes the connection.
Any body else experience this with an antenna?

I've also experienced the same problem over the weekend, my Neoflex started Friday evening though (I'm in Jhb, Fourways).

Once a download reaches a certain speed (it seems around 1 mbps) the line drops, so only very light browsing was possible, but the moment you open up a big site the line drops and i have to restart my router to get that minimal functionality back.
Called the callcentre various times over the weekend and also got the most blatantly incompetent answers out of the techie...

One even tried to explain to me what they are doing : consolidating excel sheets of what areas are affected they get back on an hourly basis...
I mean FFS!!
AND guess what, the guy I spoke to told me they had only 3 tech ppl in the callcentre on Saturday afternoon!!! And this is with a connectivity crisis going on.

I resorted to using vodacom 3G of my phone to get work done that i needed to do over the weekend.
I haven't tested this morning, so i'll only know tonight that the problem has not been resolved yet...

Pathetic if you ask me.
And to think i tried to defend Neotel on another occasion...
