Keeping cool at night

A/C on 16 + Fan on 2 every night. My skin is perfectly fine and can’t remember when last I was sick.
16? which brand? All 3 of our samsung A/C's have 18 as minimum. At night, 18 gets very cold, especially for our little boy - 20 seems good for us here.

We've ordered one of these: https://www.yuppiechef.com/taurus.h...MIjNWN7vy_3wIVYrftCh3cxwmlEAQYAiABEgKv3fD_BwE

Will let you know how well it works when it arrives.
When it comes to fans there is no replacement for displacement, the larger the diameter the better  My ceiling fan in lounge still has old school metal blades, on the wall is a General Electric box numbered 1 to 5. On 5 everything in the lounge shakes and moves, it sounds like a helicopter trying to lift off, love the blade fart noises when the south easter blows through the lounge. On setting 1 you do not even hear it, but you can feel the air on you.
Small fans need to spin at a hellava speed to move air, keen to hear on the report back on this purchase of yours.

I leave the windows open and run the aircon with a two hour switch off setting.

Fans dont cool this air. Not with these temps
Yup, aircon is best. But I use the fan function of my aircon anyway. Creates enough of a breeze to keep me comfortable.

My only concern with misting fans, and this antarctic cooler is what it will do to my electronics - more specifically my camera.
Try not to leave your camera lying around. Put it in a padded camera bag and store it in a cupboard. That is what I do; Durban is extremely humid during summer yet I have had no issue thus far. My other electronics, laptop, cellphone, gadgets all stay on my desk and also no issue.

We sleep with our ac on 25 and lowest fan speed. Room is comfy without being cold. I'm a very hot person and wife is the opposite.

How are you guys leaving your windows open?

If my window is not closed by 8PM, I have 10 mosquitoes in my room, colonizing the one corner of my ceiling.
Yeah me too, and geckos, and spiders and who knows what else?
Even had a bat cruise in 1 night in my lounge 8 years ago and it followed my ceiling fan going round and round for ages, eventually one of the blades knocked him senseless, I could scoop him up and take him outside, as i got outside he flew up and away.
My windows and doors are always closed at night now, don't dig wildlife :laugh: Tsek

Had the same questions. Refuse to sleep with open windows ,.because of goggas and other stuff. Maybe insect nets as a previous poster mentioned could be an idea.

Currently, have aircons in main bedroom and lounge, and for the first time last night , slept with it on at 21 and slowest speed. Was lovely. All other bedrooms have a ceiling fan.

Right now, 16:22, both aircons in lounge bedroom on and fans spinning in rooms. Electricity usage is about 3kw!!

So here is a question . What about central air-conditioning? I've seen it at some homes. Seems to work a treat for both summer and winter. Other questions I have now is also how many batteries would I need if I wanted to run off solar. I assume a central Aircon would be more energy efficient than installing one in each room?

lol.

If only, work is torture. Need to keep my vents closed. My skin reacts badly, like stinging insect bites all over.

Have no clue why. What is in AC?
:( If your skin tends to be a bit sensitive / dry, the aircon at work will be dehydrating it even more. Try extra moisturiser on skin exposed to the office air, and put more on when you feel the itchy stuff starting - it helped me.
