Has anyone had a issue where the old battery of your car's key fob gives a low battery warning on the car's display and when you swop the battery out with a new one, it doesn't work anymore (locking/unlocking the car - car still starts). But when you put the old low battery in, it unlocks, locks and starts the car?

I looked at forums, but most say it has to be reprogrammed. Which is weird, if it is programming, why does the old battery still work?

Many say the key needs a reset and gives different ways of doing that (haven't tried disconnecting the car's battery for a few minutes yet as it requires disassembly of a few parts), but the others of starting the car a few times and using the key blade to lock and unlock doesnt seem to do the trick.

Its just beyond me that the old low battery will work but the new ones doesnt - Ive been to 10 stores which many didnt have the specific battery, the three which did were poor Pakistani shops and I blamed each and every one of them of trying to sell me old batteries. Got some at Makro and they can't be also defective? I feel so bad of opening so many batteries and then asking for refunds when its clearly the bad over priced car

My old car had you ‘relearn’ the remote to the car after the battery of the fob was changed. Maybe your car has the same?

Why would you say this?

I had to put the key into the slot on the door, lock and unlock it and immediately put it into the car ignition barrel and turn it to the ON position. This was on a 2007 A4
I tried something similar, didnt work. Another forum is saying I must get the same brand battery. Only one place in SA which has Sony batteries for it

If it was a ford then the question wouldve been about removing oil stains from the drive way.
Says the person with a BMW which already has reverse damage for which the custom mags didnt help at all
