Hi,

Question;

I have 2 PC's, and a USB keyboard and USB mouse which I use on the one machine, I connect to the 2nd PC and do stuff generally via VNC because the keyboard and mouse are connected to my main PC.

But is there a way to be able to use the keyboard and mouse on both PC's by like, going thru a USB hub or something... (thinking out loud here)

:)

Called a KVM switch - allows you to switch between computers using a hub that has one keyboard and mouse, but many extensions to each pc, flick a switch and the screen will show you the next pc etc...
this is what you are looking for.

Yes! Download Synergy! It shares your keyboard and mouse through the network. Works great!

Synergy lets you easily share a single mouse and keyboard between multiple computers with different operating systems, each with its own display, without special hardware. It's intended for users with multiple computers on their desk since each system uses its own monitor(s).

That's from http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/home.html

This sounds good, going to try this!

KVM switch (I know what that is) but it's too expensive.

D-link KVM-121 , 2 port KVM Switch with audio , console : VGA+PS2+audio out , host : VGA+PS2+audio in - with built-in cables R240.00 ex VAT

Sunix KMC102U , 2 port USB mini KVM Switch , console : VGA+PS2 , host : VGA+USB , with built-in cable R190 ex VAT

Hardly what I'd call expensive :p

Here is my problem, that has 2x PS/2 ports.
My keyboard and mouse is USB.
Also, my LCD has 2 connections, one digital and one analog, the analog connection is connected to the 2nd PC and the digital connection is connected to my main PC - I switch between each PC via the LCD so that part is sorted.

It's the keyboard and mouse part that's bugging me!

I must note that Synergy works best if you have 2 LCD's (one for each PC), then you can work on the different PC's almost like a dual monitor setup. Copy and Paste (text) also works...

All KVM switches come with USB - PS2 converters in the box, so not really a problem. You can even buy the converters seperately, dirt cheap.

If you really have to go all USB:
D-link KVM-221 , 2 port KVM Switch with audio , console : VGA+USB+audio out , host : VGA+USB+audio in - with built-in cables R340 ex VAT
