Kids tablet

Ok, had some fun with the Leapfrog Epic.

Both Netflix and Showmax work 100%, I just had to download them from an apk mirror site.

I could not download Youtube through the Amazon appstore, however I added the Youtube plugin to Kodi and it works perfectly too.

So, now my kid can stream stuff off the internet or off our local network, highly recommended :)

Looking at the technical specifications of the two the Kurio has 8GB of storage while the Leapfrog has 16GB and the Leapfrogs front camera is 2mp compared to 0.3mp for the Kurio.

Kurio runs on Lolipop while the Leapfrog is only Kitkat. The Leapfrog is very heavily customized so I am not sure how relevant that would be.

I cannot speak for anything else. By the looks of it the Kurio allows you to install apps and then choose what your child is allowed to use.

Yeah the specs are similar. I was hoping someone tried it out. Not having native youtube is a bit of a deal breaker. The other option is a lenovo A7 which is in the same price range.

I ened up getting the vodacom smart tab 2.

Decent specs, 1gb Ram, Quad core, Android M, Seems decentish but lets see how it goes

Anyone using a kindle fire? I bough the first gen a long time ago and ended flashing a different rom. Is the fire os more user friendly outside the USA? Can I download apps?

Yes. You use the Amazon app store. No Google play store. But I have had Amazon devices for a while and so have a lot of purchased app on there already

I bought a Kindle fire HD8 for my son. I like the restrictions you can put on a child user. Was so happy with it, I bought another Amazon Kindle fire 7 for myself.

Do you still get access to apps like netflix and stuff? Also is there any limitation with the Amazon store due to it not being in the USA?

Tbh. I don't know for sure. My Amazon account is like 10 years old so don't have a clue what location it's under.

I have ordered things to be delivered in France, UK, Canada, SA, US

The app store is not as extensive as Google, but I have gotten stuff for free there that I would have to pay on the play store
