Hello everyone! What's the easiest way to get a Kindle Paperwhite, 11th generation? It doesn't seem like they ship from Amazon US or UK.

It was only available bundled with a cover and wireless charger when I bought, so total before shipping was $230. Priority shipping with FedEx and taxes, including two other items I bought, R2400.

Last time I checked Amazon US delivered to SA, but they just never have stock of the Kindle anymore...

The 11th gen was out of stock for me, so I ordered the 10th gen of Amazon (at a $50 discount). Not sure why they wouldn't ship the 11th (barring stock issues)?

get a job with Amazon in Cape Town, they used to hand out Kindles to all new starters

give your 1 week notice on day 1 and GTFO of that hellhole, keep the Kindle

They do have stock if you have a US address. That is why MyUS works.

Ahhh I see that now... sneaky bastards...

I hadn't tried my US address when looking for awhile, but a few months ago they did have stock that they would ship internationally (may have only lasted for a day or two though)

So yeah, MyUS or AramexGlobalShopper are options then.

Just a question... is there still a use for old Kindles, in this age of tablets , etc ? I still have a 5th Gen Paperwhite (1) and 2 3rd Gen units (Kindle Keyboard) lying around . Personally I use my ipad for everything (Kindle app installed etc)

Reading on a kindle >> reading on a tablet.

E-ink displays do not induce headaches when reading a lot.
The downside of course is that you don't have colour to display images, but not everyone will be bothered by it. Battery life on ereaders are also significantly better.

I still use my 3rd gen Kindle Keyboard daily. My Samsung Tab that I bought after the Kindle is sitting in a drawer gathering dust. It wasn't updated past Android 4.4, and is just about useless now. Can't browse the Internet, can't download apps, even the apps that are installed don't work anymore. No such issues with the Kindle. It hasn't received updates in about 5 years, but it still works. I can still directly buy ebooks, or copy them over. My Kindle is however showing its age wrt battery life. I used to get around a month, now its down to 2 weeks. When it finally dies, I will replace it with a new Kindle.

Another advantage of the kindle over my ipad is that whenever I fell asleep while reading, it didn't break my nose when falling :D I just got tired of carting 2 devices around and opted for the more versatile one. Don't have the headache issues while reading on the ipad , but then i also limit my reading to 2-3 hrs at a time

100% this.
I was on the fence about an ereader and finally decided to get one to get back into reading.
Best decision ever, I have ended up reading more books than ever.
I did end up buying the Kobo Libra 2 from Amazon (which included shipping and customs) and wow the text is really sharp and love having page buttons on it...just makes reading much more convenient.

The latest is that they have stock but don't deliver the latest model to South Africa. They still deliver older models

Intriguing to say the least, and tbh I'd happily settle for the older version at the much lower price.. but then I'm a stingy bastard :p

I agree, it's not as if the newer version is 2x better.
