The screen on the libra 2 is a Carta 1200 which is definitely a big improvement over the H20 screen.
The lighting on the libra 2 is also better and it has usb c, which is just more convenient.
If you can strech your budget to the Libra 2 I would recommend it.

However if you prefer the amazon ecosystem, the Kindly PW 2021 & Signature edition is available at Zeek:

I haven't touched my old Touch since getting my paperwhite, but they make great presents so I gifted it to a friend whom I knew would appreciate it despite it not being latest gen.

Backlit Kindle over any tablet any day of the week for serious reading.

I’ll use my phone on a pinch when standing in a queue or something but a Kindle is always preferred.

I started my eBook journey on an iPad and migrated to a Kindle.

If both broke I’d replace my kindle before my iPad.

I ordered that exact listing above and received the item promptly. The 11th gen Paperwhite is a huge step up from the 10th gen imo, what with the yellow light, faster processor, page turn animation, slimmer bezels and better battery. The yellow light is the real reason to go 11th gen though. The standard white light is blinding once you're used to a middle-of-the-road colour temperature.

Crazy money and profiteering for something you can import yourself for thousands less.

The Kindles also have USB-C and the Signature wireless charging.

When I ordered mine for R4k it wasn't even available in the US. I know because I checked frequently for over a month before biting the bullet on the Bidorbuy listing. The cost is fairly irrelevant considering how much I read. I'll break even in under 6 months probably.

Right now it’s R3000 to buy directly for the Signature.

Another R500 odd to get it here saves you a crap load over that listing.

That’s a whole lot of books for very little effort.

I also wonder if they actually carry the stock or simple order it in when you do.

The normal one will be even cheaper.

Your Bid or Buy price is marginally better but for the same money you could literally get the Signature yourself directly or spend less and get the new PW.

As I mentioned, there was no availability of the 11th gen Kindles when I bought mine. I'm referring to Amazon itself. There was a long period where they just were not available for whatever reason.

The Bidorbuy seller could not have been ordering after the fact. 1. No stock existed via Amazon, and 2. I received the item in 3 days.

But I agree, importing via a mail forwarding service seems the way to go now.

But right here and now no need to piss money away to these scalper middle men who do nothing you can’t do yourself.

I did say 2 weeks liberally because of the time of year but it’s generally faster than that.

Anybody that is able to comment about the Kindle DX 9" screen vs the smaller 6.9" screen in general ? My DX is getting a bit heavy to hold up but the eyes are not so great either.
 
Get a free US address in a tax free state, get free shipping to that state and order the cheapest Paperwhite that only sells in the US - (one with adverts on the off-state home screen - it will never display ads in ZA, as it's not meant for here!)

You'll have to pay shipping and import tax, but still a LOT cheaper than direct from Amazon or local vendors.

Quick question for those with both. My wife has my old Kobo Glo that she uses and has been asking for a Kindle as there are a lot of books she cannot access buts only available on Kindle (or in its format I assume). Surely there has to be a way around that?

I remember I used to convert to epub format but it didn't always work well iirc.

Advice?
