King praises apartheid regime

Except coming from whence it does, it just sounds like sour grapes.
 
I get the feeling that the king will not be voting for Zuma in the next election.
 
Wonder if he will get away with this too, after the xenophobic thing I would have thought he would be choosing his words with more care..

The bolded part sounds exactly like something the King would say, he dislikes democracy because it makes him irrelevant.

True - I have heard some African people claim that there lives where better under apartheid, I would have thought that a politician would be intelligent enough not to say it in public even if he did believe it.

Yeah, I can believe that, for some, it was better, because they had a more assured source of income then than they have currently.

What pisses me off currently is that for some reason they believe we cannot have the best of both - that blacks and whites working against each other will somehow make them richer than if we all just worked together to improve each other's lives in a democracy.

I get that the past was wrong, but fight fight fight all the time isn't gonna make anybody richer.

Don't think so, but I think he was the IFP's patron when they ruled KZN, and now he's the ANC's. I think he's pissed off over what he sees as the government taking undue interest in how he manages his finances. Some of the public stuff is embarrassing - not that he needs help there. What with him making anti-gay statements in the past and recently the xenophobic nonsense.

Surprisingly true. One of my uncles keeps saying that and I worked with a guy about my age who said the same. He at least is too young to know what apartheid is about but my uncle is in his 60s so should know how it is. It reminds of Tyrion Lannister musing about how some people come to accept and even enjoy slavery in that scene (book), where the old man says "I wouldn't give the silver queen my collar if she promised to su*k my c*ck for it".

Destabilizing the country & keeping us fighting while they dismantle democratic structures seem to have worked out exactly like that for the Zuma clan..

I would rather have an honest man working for his moola saying this rather than this man. In any case those who once they start to enjoy cream in the government and run away from where they were staying are by implication acknowledging that apartheid was great but they don't know it.
