Apartheid was good for many black people. I know many who benefited through alliances with Ciskei and Transkei regimes. Their wealth evaporated since 1994. I used to see their kids living the life and now things are different.

Yes the rulers of the homelands were allowed a fairly free hand by the regime. As long as they did nothing to piss off the overlords, I heard one of the homeland rulers stole millions at the fall of apartheid. The guy went from being a traffic cop to being whatever it is they called the homeland rulers.

A lot of money. Those walked away with businesses, land etc. e.g. Bhisho shopping complex was an alliance between South African overlords and Ciskei government connected people.

My mom is one of those who used to say Apartheid Life was better. :D until I taught her the other side of the truth.

Lol, I pointed out to the guy who said it'd be better if apartheid were still around that he'd not be able to be in the profession he's in because only while people were allowed to study and work in the area.
 
Apartheid was one of the crimes against humanity of the 20th century and there's nothing about it that can be disinfected or glorified

Buthelezi was one of the great stooges of apartheid who created his own little fiefdom and also caused bloodshed, and slowed down the demise of apartheid considerably in doing so

I guess the king hankers back to those times.

The message that I am getting though (and needs to be reinforced) is that we are at the darkest time since 1994 and there are some real threats of SA losing both the economic and democratic gains that we fought for, to satisfy Zuma and his small group of cronies. Using apartheid analogies certainly highlights how serious the current threat is

hahahaha....people have short memory. Its understandable because we could be doing much better and many people are frustrated. When my mom says Apartheid was better, I ask her,

so growing up in a filthy township with no services (i promise you it looked like JHB CBD during the Pikit Up Strike), no electricity, walking long distances to get water, your nephew's father assassinated by SA and Homeland regime etc was better?

This isn't a pro-Apartheid or pro-whites speech. It's a speech designed to put the screws on the ANC to get him the extra gravy he's after. Give me gravy or I'll rock the boat.

Basic political manoeuvring. Nothing else.

If it suited him, he'd be burning the infrastructure himself.

This homelands BS is a relic of apartheid.
