I would very much like to know just how unhealthy it is for a baby to be kissed on the mouth.

There is a 6 week old baby in my family and I notice that his mother and father keeps on kissing him right on the mouth. What about all the germs in one's mouth?

I think you might be a bit of a germa phobe.

My mom did it with my mothe too, she licked his "dummy" and tasted his milk.

But not when they have fever blisters and flu.

But I know how you feel I would die if i had to watch that!

Odd; we never kissed any of our kids on the mouth when babies - but if their dummies dropped on the floor, we suck on them to "clean" them if that's all that is available..
Humans are funny creatures :)

If you're not exposed to germs at all then you'll just end up with a weak immune system... like, its a fact that people who eat their own boogers are far less likely to come down with a harmful sickness because their body knows how to deal with germs better...
so I dont think theres anything wrong with that

I remember my mom kissing my little bro !! All that slime:sick:

I think family in the same home (under same roof) is fine because they share germs anyway being in the same home. Anyone outside the household would be not fine.

Ye! Besides, babies are quite resilient little creatures!

In this case, the Dad's teeth are bad, that's why I can't stand it to see the baby kissed on the mouth! No, I'm sorry...........makes me sick!

On the cheek. On the forehead. On the head. For me, never on the mouth.

It just doesn't seem right to do it any other way. My boy is almost 9 months and I still it ain't right to kiss him on the mouth.

Yeah, sure! By now he's got germs from picking up all manner of things and chewing on it, but I feel more comfortable this way.

Let me put this way. My lad doesn't feel any less loved for the manner in which I have chosen to show him my affection. :)

Dude, who cares. They crawl on the floor and eat everything they see from dog sheet, dead roaches etc.

Initially people clean dummies etc but after a while it's like wtf and wipe it on their already snot covered shirts etc.

Hygiene is the last thing I would be worried about. What does not kill them makes them stronger.

No wonder there's a market for all those ridiculous anti-germ products.

Yes, little boys are quite slimey.

Makes sense actually. Our saliva has anti-bacterial properties.

Overall I don't see the problem. If you don't want to kiss your child on the mouth, then don't, but germs are not a reason to not do so.

Dude, get a hobby or something. Get out of the house more often. :)

We kissed the boy on the mouth from day one - he has been sick twice now in his 15 months of life. I think you're being paranoid about nothing. There are real things to worry about - like putting them in carseats, keeping them off ledges, not giving them certain foods and so forth - without fretting over trivialities.
