Mandela has no relevance to current politics.
How anyone can expect a killing spree by black people on whites after Mandela's death, is beyond me.
This entire misconception is a direct result of a misenterpretation of a vision of Siener van Rensburg by the author, Adriaan Snyman.
The vision will have it that after Mandela's death a fire (unrest) would break out.
Nowhere does the vision refer to a "night of long knives" as popularly being referred to, nor does the vision state that the violence would be a direct result of Mandela's death.
It simply states that there would be violence not long after his death.
This violence and civil unrest might be caused by any number of things for example the higher cost of living or even service delivery protests.
There is no doubt in my mind that we will see civil unrest and political instability in the near future as soon as the higher cost of living is being felt by the average consumer.
The average consumer will seek someone to blame. No doubt the current inept, corrupt and thieving regime will have to bear the brunt of the unrest.
Once the higher cost of living due to increased electricity and fuel cost kicks in, any number of unfortunate things may start happening.
We live in interesting times.

I don't think the average consumer is going to pose much of a problem in terms of unrest in SA. The usual violent protesters are unemployed or very poor, not worried about the cost of fuel and electricity as much as they are about basic services and housing etc.
No middle class people who are worried about the cost of living will cause serious unrest. That's solely the domain of the majority (i.e poor) in SA.
And there have been increased fuel and electricity costs for the last year at least, and general cost of living has been rising every single year. You'd need more reasons that electricity and fuel to predict massive unrest.
We basically live in times of unrest with often violent protests happening every month all over the country.

Who cares about Mandela he is history.
The ANC blames everything wrong in this country on the white people (white people have too many business, white people have to many jobs, white people blah blah blah), they don't create or innovate, they just want to take away from the whites and repatriate to the Black people. Of course they aren't getting much because the government is keeping most of the spoils for themselves.
You can draw direct parallels between the Jews in Germany before the war and White people in SA, Jews this, Jews that, someone has to be a scapegoat. And the sentiment that someone will step in and do something if something bad happens, nobody did anything in Zimbabwe, nobody did anything in the Congo, etc etc.
When there is no food, no money no water, no infrastructure, no jobs etc etc just mobs of angry starving uniformed people. Who are they going to blame? Def not the ANC, white people, most probably oh and foreigners.

The middle class won't start it. They still have too much to loose.
You also have to consider that more than half of the population is under the age of 14 without any chance whatsoever of ever finding employment and the fact that the economy shed one million jobs in recent times.
In my book there are a lot of unhappy people out there.
In '76 it also started with the youth.
We all know what an influence that had.

You know, what's the point. I'm going to live my life just fine anyways, I've always been told SA was going to fail: Land grabs were supposed to have 2 years ago. Zuma was supposed to kill whites and bring the economy to a stand still. Crime was supposed to cripple and kill the country. The World Cup was going to be a failure and a bloodfest, after the world cup the blacks will kill us all, I've heard it all.

This is true, but looking at the history of black Africa and watching current events on TV, it’s tempting to make assumptions where you are 95% correct.

Zuma is not vocally against the west, neither does England owe us money giving no future South African leaders incentive to just "take land".
Germany went through war, and elected a fascist totalitarian government with no freedom to the people and heavily censored press, the government was already vocally against a particular race group and showed perennial violence towards them publicly and privately. Hatred towards them was also taught in schools.
So the difference between South Africa and the examples you gave are very immense.

Gee and you aren't noting any similarities? You haven't heard of the media tribunal? The state sanctioned gazettes, The SABC ANC bias? &%*! are you living under a rock. Most people in this country and ignorant and uninformed.
I'm pretty sure Zuma doesn't like whites but who says he'll even be president in 5 years, yes he's very civil and puts up a good front. When your governments spokesperson is a *%&# like Jimi Manyi and your youth league president is a *$&# like Malema (he even partied it up with Zanu PF, he has even made numerous racial incitements with little or no repercussions) . You can see where this country is heading.
It'll take some time but it is going to happen things aren't getting better they're only getting worse bit by bit.
Let's see, our government is inefficient with possibly a lot of corrupt politicians vs power hungry land and country annexing dictators who disregard freedom of anything from privacy to speech? Ye. I'm pretty damn sure there are no similarities.
I'm living under a rock? I read the same papers and news sources online as you. So unless you are under a rock with me, South Africa has one of the freest press in the world. We KNOW our government is corrupt thanks to them, maybe you should check to see if you are under a rock.

Hey Mugabe didn't start off so bad most of our guys did.
And there are little to no repercussions for intense corruption, depends on who's in favour I guess. If they can do what they do now, there is absolutely no reason for them not to take it further if the need arises. You are happy to give them your finger now but in the end they will take your whole hand. Your probably in denial at least I know we are in a %&*#@ situation, which is slowly but surely getting worse each day.
For any democratic country's leaders to openly say racist remarks without repercussions, or hang out with dictators and support them in their human rights abuses is ludicrous. Your so accepting now, you'll won't know what's hit you till it's too late. Of course it will take time but how long who knows, def in the next 5 years in my honest opinion, our fragile kleptocratic flawed so called democracy will be tested and fail hard.
