Eskom is confident that Koeberg Power Station's two nuclear generators will be operational in time to renew the power station's operating licence.

However, the synchronisation of its Unit 1 generator has been delayed as it has yet to be fully synchronised to the grid.

However, the synchronisation of its Unit 1 generator has been delayed as it has yet to be fully synchronised to the grid.

Saw in some lecture, the last minute or so before the Chernobyl reactor literally ripped itself apart, it produced close to half a terrawatt of "electricity" (thermal power).

"the power jumped to about 100 times the rated power, in about 4 seconds"

These things are unbelievably powerful.

Without those control rods you have the opposite of loadshedding...

uhh...that makes no sense. Either you're synchronized or you're not. There's no "slightly synchronized". So the synchronization has been delayed because it's not synchronized?
