If you look for racism, you will find it. Doesn't contribute anything to the discussion though.
It would be nice if you could educate us as to which comments in this threat was racist. We might all learn something. At the moment you just come over as somebody that likes to play the race card, so it would be in your best interest to point it out, or at least report it to the mods.

You don't have to look for racism on this section of the site, it finds you. I mean look at the undertone of your comments...you will of course deny any racial motivation but it is clear as day, I am sure a lot of guests who are reading these messages(not logged in) would agree, especially those who have traveled the can compare. Trust me, your message was delivered and felt. I am sure you feel great.

If you don't catch the 'hate' in some of these posts then I guess you are transparent to it, maybe because this is how people in SA always are(hence the reputation of this country as a segregated nation).

Oh well, such is life...let's get back on topic!

with that said however, there is a nutcase that chopped up an obelisk a few weeks ago, said he was a viking and more famous than Paul Kruger. if that is the threat they're talking about then i suggest they do it ASAP as they're just as bad as the ANCYL

still, it has nothing to do with the ANCYL, and if they want to erect monuments they should build their own schools and hospitals. you can be nationalistic without bullying the rest of the population

So basically, you can't point it out, and only "guests" see it? You only refer to "undertones" and pretend to know the "racial motivation" in messages. It must be difficult to be you.

What if those communities who value the reminders of a VERY bad time are unwilling to integrate and have proven this over and over again?

Off with the bloody statue, could not be bothered who they replace it with, but if its Chris Hani, its a move I would support.

I don't have the interest to try to break it down for you here on MyBB. I know deep inside that brain you know exactly what I mean and I know you know I am right. I care not if you deny it, it's not a mistake why people from all over the place see South Africa as a fake rainbow nation. Personalities like yours are a clear example of why. Transparent to your own actions. If you want someone to "point it out", go see a therapist.

sorry to butt in, and i am no fan of Paul Kruger or afrikaans culture, but i don't see how removing a statue and replacing it with a statue from ANOTHER culture is helping either. the statue obviously means a lot to some people as it is part of their heritage, and the fact that the ANCYL wants it knocked over acknowledges that they know it matters to some people or they wouldn't see it as a "threat". the thing is, we cant' take anything the ANCYL says seriously, as it has an idiot of a leader, and secondly it wants to shut twitter down. an organisation with this mentality can't be making decisions about what statues to erect and knock down.

i'm all for erecting monuments if people feel the need, but why demolish something just to put something new in it's place? why is Paul Kruger so threatening?

Don't waste your breath, smalltownsky, he seems to have very thick blinkers on.

As to the discussion at hand, enough points have been raised about Kruger having nothing to do with Apartheid, it's national heritage, why remove it? I wouldn't even remove the apartheid ones, just alter them slightly showing the falacy and stupidity of a time in our countries history. Trying to erase the past solves nothing and just dooms future generations to repeat the problem.
 
Huh, Kruger died in 1900, long before apartheid which the Brits actually started?

You do understand that those who forget the past, are condemned to repeat it, right?

As I said before, there is room for everyone in this country. A wise leader would not divide, but would rather bring together all communities and attempt to create an understanding of each other.
