Every time I go and visit family the East Freestate I take the opportunity to stock up on my supply of meat from the farm. (It normally negates any petrol costs I have to there, since it is much cheaper directly from the farm).

Since I have recently been doing this more often, my uncle has asked me if there might be an interest for people to buy directly from the farmer. He used to have his own butchery but has recently scaled down a bit.

So this thread is just to gauge interest and if anyone is really interested in this they can PM me and I will provide you with his contact details. I am not sure (but I think) this is more exclusive to people in the Gauteng region / East Freestate. My uncle will ensure delivery (most likely personally if enough people want in), but this is something you can discuss directly.

The prices that has been discussed was the following:

R55 per kg for Lamb
R35 per kg for Mutton

If you want specific cuts I am pretty sure this can also be discussed.

Jacques, is this you?...:D..used to work with a bloke at ICL, yonks ago - who used to do the same thing...I used to take a lamb/sheep for the month.

If you can find out about delivery to KZN, I'd appreciate it.

I am sure I would be very interested if you could buy a 1/4 sheep at a time :D

Are they free range?
is he supplying sausages and wors aswell?

Those prices are cheap as I just paid R65/kg for lamb and I buy 1 lamb per month.

I'm totally for this !
Im in JHB and i know my brother in KZN would also buy in bulk if we can sort out the logistics :)

I have PMed everyone here that has shown interest with the contact details :) I must say way more people are interested than I have actually expected.

I know that he also does pork sausages and wors as well. It is best to interface directly with him regards to this :)

Also, the animals are as free range as you get. It is a proper free state farm :)

If you manage to get deliveries to Cape Town going, I'll give it a try.
